“For Full Bodied Reds - Do not Miss”

Domaine des Escaravailles
Ranked #1 of 1 things to do in Roaix

Domaine des Escaravailles was the top recommendation by the owners of our gite for full bodied BIG reds. It is a beautifully located, family winery with vineyards going back to 1924. We LOVED all of the wines here and it was impossible to chose what to buy, but the "1924" will be coming home to Canada. We were kindly hosted by the owner of the winery who was well versed in English and very hospitable and passionate about his wines.

.We had lunch in Roaix and then walked up to the Domaine, quite a hike but well worth it.The reception we had was really great,a lot of information about the wines and a lot of wines tasted,my favourite being la Ponce 2011..I bought quite a lot of wine so it was a bit difficult walking back to Roaix,so the Domaine delivered the wine to where i was staying in Sablet. It really is worth the walk up to the Domaine if you are fit just for the views.A wonderful experience.

Some of the best wines in the area. We visit early every year to stock up on red (Le Ventabren and La Ponce are usually excellent) and the very lovely Les Antimagnes rose. In a beautiful location on a hillside above Roaix (near Vaison la Romaine), it's a lovely place to go and have a dégustation - just remember to bring your best French or you may end up having to use sign language!

The wines here are lovely. We included this on our tour of rasteau vineyards and of all the ones we went to it had the largest number of people tasting the stunning wines.

It really is a well-kept secret at the end of a winding road with great views of the dentelles and the seguret/roaix vineyards.

We brought home 3 cases of the 2011 rasteau and it would have been more if we had room.

Highly recommended.
