Elegant setting both inside or out. Fresh twists on Umbrian cuisine. Knowledgeable and warm sommelier will guide you through the fine regional wines. Service and setting makes for a special but not stuffy experience.

We spent two nights and wished we had a week more.... a fabulous place to stay. Spacious rooms, incredible views, gracious staff. Although there were other people staying at the villa, we hardly ever saw anyone unless it was at breakfast (which was DELICIOUS). There are two pools on the property, just a great place to read, swim and enjoy the rolling hills.
The villa is way up in the hills, so you will need a car to get around. We were there for a family reunion and many of the family members were staying in 'downtown' Panicale, very nice, but hot, busy and noisy. We felt so lucky to be at Villa di Monte Solare. Also, would like to compliment Jennifer of the staff - very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: I do not think there is a bad room on the property.

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful, 7 night stay in this beautiful hotel. The reception from the staff was superb - we were given a tour of the property and facilities - and we were delighted with our charming room, which was spacious and immaculately clean. The hotel has beautiful grounds with stunning views of the Umbrian countryside. It is a quiet location perfect for a relaxing retreat. Although meals are priced quite high, the quality of food and presentation is superb. All of the staff were very professional and the rooms were thoroughly serviced and turned down in the evening. We also found this to be a good location for visiting lake Trasimeno and would recommend Panicale and Castiglione del Lago. If you fancy travelling further afield, Assisi is simply lovely. Thank you all at Villa di Monte Solare - we have had a wonderful time and would definitely like to return!

We spent 4 nights here - it is absolutely gorgeous.Their directions are quite good - it was about 35 minutes from Perugia. You do need car as it is remote.
We arrived a little early but our room was ready which was a nice surprise. A generous fruit plate was delivered just as we were unpacking.
Th hotel has two pools and is quite spread out. It is absolutely charming with a number of rooms and the reception and restaurant in the main house or villa. We were in one of the other buildings - an old stone farm house that was a series of rooms - we had a suite with a living area, dining are off that, two lovely new bathrooms and a bedroom. I was a little disappointed that there was really not a great view from the window in the bedroom, but the room was always cool and we slept with the windows open which was nice and quiet. The bed has linen sheets and nice toiletries are supplied. Feather pillows are available on request.
I found the bed a little hard and after the first night I asked if anything could be done and the mattress was changed for a softer one - I slept really well.
We had half board and dinner was a real highlight. The menu is traditional italian with an Umbrian influence - there are specials each evening in addition to the normal menu. The pasta is fantastic. We enjoyed the guinea fowl, the tuna special one night, the salads are really fresh. Sometimes, the music was a bit odd - some classical or good jazz would be perfect is such a setting.
The service at dinner is exceptional - the staff are all terrific especially the head waiter and the sommelier.
Breakfast is fine - not the best we have had in Italy but great coffee. It would be nice if they had better breads and a good muesli - but the pastries and cakes are excellent. There are also cheeses, meats, some hot dishes, fruit. yoghurts and various packaged cereals.
This is a good base for exploring the local hill towns which we did. There are also some lovely walks from the Villa - we did four early in the morning varying from about 3.5 KM to 14 KM. The map and instructions from reception were excellent and we really enjoyed our walks and seeing the local area.
Villa di Monte Solare was recommended to us by a friend and I certainly recommend it highly as one of the most relaxing spots we have stayed in for years.

We stayed here in July 2014 to celebrate a wedding and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The setting is beautiful and tranquil, the rooms were all of a high standard (with some nice touches such as a basket with towels for the swimming pool and very good toiletries in the bathroom) and kept very clean - they even have a turn down service at night. The breakfast buffet was very good: fresh fruit, various breads, cheese, meat, eggs, cakes, even (hic!) Prosecco. We had group meals in the evening and one of these was disappointing (pizzas), the other meals were very good and plentiful. Would certainly stay there again if we found ourselves in this region again.

This is a wonderful place to stay. So peaceful and relaxing, yet relatively easy to reach local restaurants, villages and other places of interest for example the Perugina chocolate factory is only 25 minutes away. Initially we assumed we would be staying in the main villa, which is pictured on the website, so were rather surprised after checking in to find we were driving off to another part of the property. Happy to say that we were very pleasantly surprised. There are many charming little cottages only a few minutes drive away or ca. 5-6 minutes walk. We were given a lovely spacious room, very comfortable and nicely decorated. We dined at Villa Monte Solare one evening, and the meal was delicious, great service and wine selection. Weather was a little too chilly to eat outside, but the dining room inside the villa has a lovely cozy atmosphere. Equally delicious was the breakfast buffet on the terrace. My husband and I have travelled extensively in Italy, and are always on the lookout for interesting places to stay and eat. Even though Villa Monte Solare can seem a little isolated at first, there are many very good restaurants in the area all within 30 minutes drive, for example in Panicale just 20 minutes away, there is an excellent little restaurant.

Room Tip: choose a room in the main villa if walking uphill for breakfast is a challenge or driving unappealin...

We have stayed at Monte Solare again and again the experience has lived up to our high expectations. The staff are attentive but not intrusive, the location is unbelievable - even when it rains and the accommodation and the food are first rate. This year we had some disappointing weather but this enabled us to visit not just Panicale and Perugia but also Orvieto and Chiusi - we had forgotten just how much there is to see and do in this area.

Room Tip: there are 3 main locations - all have their charms - the house has the old-world charm but the other...
