“What a fab place!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 January 2014

Booked a week away over New Year and was not disappointed. Set in the mountains outside a village 15 mind from coast and 30 min from Alacante airport the vital has s fabulous view and staff to match. Peter and Ernest could not be better hosts and nothiwas too much trouble. This felt like visit a frields home than a hotel. We were offered advice on places to visit which was helpful. The accomodatiin was very comfortable with our own balcony. The food was faculous and doubt anything could match this locally. Each meal was an exciting experience. We had a child in our group who had a birthday and had a cake baked for her - yum! There is a great pool which will be great in summer but at 11degrees a bit too chilly to venture in. The view is over the local country and you can see the coast and star gazing great. I have no hesitation in recommending people to stay here but do not tell too many others as I want to return!!

Room Tip: We had suite at top which was great

We just had a fabulous stay at Finca El Otero. Peter and Ernest are great and made us feel at home!. I totally recommend this place. One more thing: dinner was excellent!
Thank you.

The owners are great, really nice people, and they are wonderful at the kitchen!
We recomend this place also for winter time, taking a relaxing glass of wine in front of a warm fire...
You can also visit this place with your babies, they prepare tou special meals for them.
We will come back soon!!

Finca el Otero was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Spain. The home is situated up on the hills with beautiful views out to the Mediterannean. Peter and Ernest are wonderful hosts and did everything to make our stay special. The breakfasts each morning were so fresh, creative, and delicious - and quite filling!

We really enjoyed exploring the surrounding scenic areas - Altea, Guadalest, and Villajoyosa. But our favorite activity was visiting the local wineries. We highly recommend planning a visit to Enrique Mendoza, as this was our favorite winery we visited in Southern Spain. They have a really nice and interesting tour of the property, followed by tastings afterwards.Their red wines were very good, especially the local Monastrell varieties.

It was so relaxing coming back to Finca El Otero each evening, especially the night we stayed in and had a fantastic meal prepared by Peter and Ernest. This was a really special meal and one of our best in Spain. We enjoyed just talking to Peter and Ernest and always being welcomed by their lovely little dogs - we felt like old friends just passing through!

We highly recommend Finca el Otera for a relaxing getaway, delicious food, and a great home base for exploring the local seaside towns and wineries.

Finca El Otero is a very nice hotel to stay at. It is located in a very quiet environment! It's a 15 minute drive to the sea and a 30 minute one to Alicanti-city. The owners Peter and Ernest are lovely people who do everything to make your stay excellent. They are great cooks and for 25 euro per person you get a delicious 3 courses meal. We recommend this hotel to anyone who would like to enjoy a relaxing, sunny time in great company!

El Otero is ideally located in the hills behind Alicante. It offers a wonderful peaceful view and above all a tantalising breeze of fresh air. This is definitely a fabulous place to rest a few days... The owners will do everything to make you feel at home and the place is really nice and very quite.

We spent 3 days in Finca El Otero on our Spain-trip in October. After visiting Barcelona and Valencia we were looking for a nice hideaway to escape from the rush of the city and found it by staying with Ernest and Peter. About 15 minutes drive to the coast (El Campello) and 25 minutes drive to Alicante it is located in the mountains and just above the small village of Aigues. Breakfast is served (very special and let yourself surprise) on the terrace overlooking the garden with swimming pool (good temperature, even in October) and garden every morning and there is an option to book dinner - our tip: Make sure you book your dinner, because it is outstanding and the atmosphere is just amazing. The hosts are currently busy refurbishing the Finca (Garden etc.) and we are curious how it will look like when we will come back on day in the future :-)

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to Finca El Otero, a beautiful property set high on a terraced hillside above the village of Aigues on the Costa Blanca, Alicante, Spain. Our bed and breakfast offering is an elegant and comfortable 'get away' destination for peace and quiet, rest, solitude and time to read and relax. A dinner service is available to our guests by arrangement. Our promise is 'Feeling at ease, feel's like home!' For a large part of the year the weather is perfect for soaking up the sun and enjoying the swimming pool or nearby beaches. In the few winter months the fire places ensure warmth for memorable cosy fireside moments. For the more energetic guests, the immediate surrounds are perfect for cycling and walking or if preferred Aigues town is a mere stroll away in order to access the delights of a typical Spanish village. Venturing a little further provides access to the nearby centres for some retail therapy and entertainment. Although Aigues is conveniently located, car rental would be important for guests wanting to explore the area. Hosts Ernest and Peter from South Africa have settled in Spain for the wonderful weather and relaxed lifestyle. 'We love the fact that everything is so close here yet far enough too. It is only a short drive down to the seaside and nearby towns. It is equally wonderful to return to the peace and quiet. We hope to welcome you at this special destination, our haven on the Mediterranean.' ... more   less
