We stayed at the Laguna for 2 weeks in January and didn’t want to come home! The resort is beautiful!
We had a Siam Chalet which is enormous with a huge comfy bed. There is a pillow menu so we ordered softer pillows and they were put in our room a couple of hours later. There is loads of hanging space for clothes but hardly any drawers for t shirts etc (this is my only complaint of the whole trip!).
Our spacious balcony overlooked a pond with Lily’s and palm trees. We spent time just watching the wildlife as there were huge monitor lizards, tree shrews, hermit crabs and lots of beautiful birds.
The hotel itself is fabulous- the grounds are spotless with people sweeping, weeding and tidying constantly. There are more than enough sun beds so you never had to reserve one even though Jan is the height of the season. The sun beds are also really comfy with thick cushions which have fresh covers each day and there is also a little pillow on each!
The pools are lovely and clean and never busy. We found there to be hardly any British people staying (just us and one other couple while we were there).
The beach is amazing! Lovely clean sand and warm sea - just perfect! We walked for miles along the beach looking at the various hotels dotted along and the Laguna looked by far the best with the best area of beach too! We had massages in one of the huts (£10 each!) for an hour and this was great too.
The restaurant at Sundowners was great and we ate lunch and dinner here each day. If you are not all inclusive then there are loads of good restaurants in a few minutes walk of the hotel.
Breakfast was in the oriental which was varied and tasty. It did get busy at about 9am so we always went at 8am ish when it was quieter.
Staff were all very helpful and friendly - even though we were all inclusive we still had to sign the bill (even for a bottle of water). But this was ok.
If you are looking for lots of entertainment and activities then this is not the place for you! At around 9.30pm you hardly see a soul around. There is a man playing a piano in the reception bar area but hardly anyone in there.
There are loads of bars and shops a few minutes walk so this was never a problem and we prefer quiet anyway.
I recommend a visit to the night market in one of the taxis and it’s about £5 there and back which is great. We also visited Moo Moo lady boy show which was hilarious and great fun. ( especially as they got my hubby up on stage to dance! Lol!).
We also visited James Bond island which was good and went canoeing in the caves - great day out.
But best of all we visited the Phang Nga elephants retirement park where we fed and washed the elephants - a one off experience not to be missed! No riding or making the animals do tricks as they do at some parks so be careful when booking.
We would definitely return and will recommend to all our friends and family.

Lovely hotel located on the beach in the south if Khao Lak.
Bungalows are spacious, clean and comfortable. Beds are fine and quite soft and nothing like the hard ones you tend to get around the Islands and beaches of Thailand.
You can even order soft pillows!
The light in the bungalows is a bit dark and can definitely be improved by a few more lamps.

Beach and pool area is nice and there are plenty of comfortable sunbeds.
Wi-fi works ok in the bungalows but not by the beach.

Breakfast is good with lots of choices. Dinner restaurant doesn’t deserve a high rating though. Portions are fairly small and twice the price as most other restaurants in the the area.

Service in the hotel is great but there is an overall lack of English speaking staff. Being a 4,5 star hotel one expects more than a handful of the staff to speak English which does cause confusion.
We definitely recommend this hotel if you want a nice and relaxing holiday in Khao Lak.

At the end of the town, with lots of restaurants within walking distance. It's a busy road, but once inside the hotel you are in a wonderful resort and location. Beautiful food, pool, beach and rooms.
Staff so ver helpful. A real Siam feel in the rooms and grounds.

We stayed here for 4 nights from Christmas Eve this year - food was awful in the beach Sundowner bar which was the only thing open, staff useless - always avoided eye contact when you needed them and then instantly / in your face asking to sign for things once you’ve ordered as if they felt you were going to walk away without paying! Really poor...
Hotel itself was tired throughout and needs lots of love everywhere. The pool was ok and clean the one redeeming factor was that the beach which was lovely but with lots of hotels along this stretch of beautiful coast do you’re homework before booking (the website looks great but the photos must have been taken some years ago before every faded and wore out! Wouldn’t recommend this to anyone I’m afraid.

4 stars, Khaolak seems cheeper than same rate hotel in Aonang (Krabi).
This property is situated along a road with a lot of trafic. But this is not a problem insite.
Beautiful big rooms, good service.
Dinner and supper along the beach.
We found the many stairs (more dan 30) to reception and breakfasthall a problem for people with mobility problems and couples with a baby. No escalator at all !!!
