5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2013

Great experience, stunning views. Carlos, the owner was very friendly and informative about which vinyards and restaurants to visit. Convenient location, very nice breakfast. Charming setting and grounds. Simple rooms, small but modern and fabulous views of the Douro Valley. Highlight of our honeymoon, would definately return and recommend.

We stayed 3 nights at the Quinta and were absolutely enchanted by our whole experience.
You can't ask for a better location in the Douro Valley: there are two vineyards located close by if you want to sample the region's wine and port, the towns of Regua and Pinhao are basically a 15-minute drive in either direction, and the height at which the hotel is built offers spectacular views of the valley.
The hotel itself is modern, clean and spacious. The rooms are not extravagantly large, but feature a king-size bed and decent size bathroom. We had the room at the end of the hall which featured windows on two walls offering views of the Douro Valley and lots of natural light.
The pool is a great feature given the warm summers and where you can stretch out on pool chairs. The property also has many spots to settle in and read a book, have a glass of wine, or just enjoy the sunset.
The key to our experience was, as many have already written, the graciousness and generosity of the owner, Carlos. He offers a personal touch that extended from our initial welcome to his useful tips for exploring the region to his terrific hosting of dinners and breakfasts.
Breakfasts (which are included) and dinners (which are an extra charge) at the Quinta are delicious, featuring ingredients from the property. They are a great way to meet fellow travelers as they take place at a large dining table on the main floor.
The best way to get to the Quinta from the main road is to take the paved and well-indicated route. Don't confuse it with the dirt road several meters away which is considerably more difficult to navigate.
A great value and a great experience.

Room Tip: The room at the very end of the hallway has a great view of the Douro Valley with windows on two sid...

My husband and I stayed here late-July and highly recommend it! The drive up the mountain is a bit hair-raising but once you are there the view and surrounds are entirely worth it. It only accommodates a small patronage which gives it a more personal feel.
The rooms are quite small but clean, exceptionally quiet and have comfortable beds.
Breakfast was included and was excellent, complimented by the amazing view of the Douro River. Taking a bottle of wine outside, reading and watching the sun go down over the valleys in the warm afternoon sun was the highlight for us.

We stayed here for 2 nights in mid-July. I don't remember how we found this place online, but I am so happy we did. It was an incredible experience. The house is stunning! It had a luxurious and contemporary design, with very thoughtful detailing throughout. From the exposed rock walls in the bathroom to the custom linens, the details were flawless. The firm king size bed was extremely comfortable as well and one of our best sleeps in Portugal. It was well-worth the price, if only for the vistas. It was a nice change from the rustic, farmhouses you typically find in the Douro Valley.

The views from Quinta de Santo Antonio were truly breathtaking. And the pool overlooking the Douro was a great addition, since it was so hot there during the day. Also, for those who like to stay up later at night to socialize with other guests, there is a games and chilling room in the basement and tons of little spots scattered across the property to share a romantic moment and just take in the scenery.

On our last night, Carlos and his wife prepared the most incredible meal based on the preferences of the house guests (we had some non-Pork eaters, vegetarians, etc.). Since the Quinta is located in central Douro (Tabuaco), it is quite a drive to town, so if you want to have dinner at their house, you need to inform them in advance. Everything served was fresh from the garden, including the wine, port and olive oil! If you don't let them know in advance, they will arrange for a van to pick you up and take you into town at a pre-established restaurant (which is just "okay" in my opinion). Eat at the house every night if you can! The breakfasts were also delicious and filling, with homemade bread and jams, eggs, meats, fruit salad, yogurt....etc.

All in all, this was one of the greatest places we've ever visited... B&B, hotel, estate...whatever you want to call it... great value for the price. Book it, you will not regret it!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Douro!

Just got back from this amazing place two days ago and couldn't wait to write a review.

The views from this Quinta are 2nd to none in the Douro Valley. As far as vistas go, they just don't get better than this. The Douro Valley, and especially this place, is a hidden gem. And I'm not sure why more people aren't talking about it. Not to mention that it is unbelievably inexpensive.

The hotel (or really B&B) is a perfect blend of old farm house and contemporary updated design, without feeling at all commercial. The house and the winery it sits on are just gorgeous. I really mean this, the pictures on here (which are really nice as they are) don't do it justice.

The real treat of the whole place (and that's saying a lot) is the owner Carlos. He just a genuinely good person who went out of his way to make sure our stay was special. From his connections in town, to his conversation, and his general demeanor, I can honestly say that Carlos made this the best stay of any vacation I've been on. I can't thank him enough. Would absolutely return to the Douro Valley, and I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

For the record, we checked out a few other hotels/vineyards while we were in the Douro, and while they were also beautiful, I thought Carlos' was nicer, and unquestionably had the nicest views I saw.

Book this place. You will not regret it.

Room Tip: The corner room facing the valley has windows on two walls which give an amazing panoramic view.

We were travelling around the Douro valley with no hotel bookings. We had the chance to find a free room in this hotel thanks to a sommelier from a nearby restaurant who gave us the information. We were absolutely amazed when we saw this lovely house/hotel, with wonderful views everywhere, a very helpful (and cultivated) host, delicious food and wine served by the family, as well as the most comfortable rooms. Be careful with the road, it might be a bit difficult to drive during the night (steep and narrow road).

Room Tip: Any room that has a view on the Douro valley

Outstanding location and services in a modern winery with incredibly friendly and servicesminded staff. Get the best location, the best services and advices for turist activities in the Douro region. From the winery you will have a fantastic view of the Douro fields, the valley and the river. A super stay and clearly recommendable close to the top producers of port.
