“Great staff, good hotel”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

We were late booking a room to tour Agrigento and ended up here for a night. We were unable to find the hotel and someone was sent to meet us. The staff was very helpful and polite at all times.
The hotel and room are clean, and the kitchen adequate.
Although these are not luxury accommodations they are a good value if you are on a budget.

With a great location on the oceanfront, we enjoyed a very nice room with a seaview and a kitchen. The location was quite even though it was week-end. Staff was very pleasant and service very good. A real nice place to stay before visiting the archeological sites.

We had a lovely room on the top floor with TWO balconies and TWO sea views! Great space - and a KITCHEN! Rather wasted on us as we only stayed one night. Lovely staff and owner. The surrounding litter and stray dogs are not the fault of the hotel, but they do seem to plague large parts this island. You need a car to stay here, as the points of interest are a few miles away. If they cleaned up the surrounds, you could have a lovely beach holiday.

This hotel is oceanfront and our room had a sea view which was very nice. The hotel itself is rather characterless but the room was a good size, clean, equipped with a small kitchenette, and a good size balcony. As it was October there was very little open in the vicinity and there was a fair amount of uncollected garbage along the roadside. The hotel pool was nice although we didn't use it. The beach improved after a short walk and is quite nice. The hotel had a good breakfast and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was a short drive from the hotel to a restaurant and the next day it wasn't too far to the Valley of the Temples. Would recommend the hotel

Room Tip: A room with a view of the ocean is nice.

From the pictures I saw a Sicilian waterfront hotel. When I arrived I experianced a plain, cold and undecorated hotel. My room didn't have one picture and the floor was tiled and cold. It did have a balcony, you shared with an air conditioning unit and a plastic table and chairs. The breakfast was unmemorible. The staff was pleasant and polite, no restaurants within walking distance although the room did have a Barbie and Ken playhouse kitchen with, to me, amassingly missing a spagetti pot.

The staff at The Antica Perla are charming and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was on the 4th floor with a sea view (essental). The whole hotel was kept spotlessly clean during our stay. Breakfasts typical of Italian hotels, but with more fresh fruit available than many.

As others have mentioned the rooms have a small kitchenette with two electric rings and a good sized fridge. Some basic meals can therefore be prepared if required.

There is no restaurant at this hotel, so other than a bar/pizzeria opposite, (which (thankfully) was only open at weekends during our stay) there is nowhere to eat within walking distance. NB Saturdays this bar has very loud music until 3am! There is a good selection of restaurants in San Leone a short drive away. Lots of fresh seafood available. San Leone does get very busy, particularly on Sunday evenings.

The pool is excellent and we often had it to ourselves. Just a short walk to the nearest beach, which immediately opposite the hotel tends to suffer with a lot of weed. However, a hundred yards or so is much cleaner and the sea slopes gently and is quite clear. Large shoals of small fish come right up to the waters edge!

The Antica Perla is perfectly placed for visiting The Valle Dei Templi. Also recommend visiting Scala dei Turchi, Villa Romana del Casale and Monteallegro Torre Salsa.

Room Tip: Sea view essential

For the 3rd time this year we went to Antica Perla and enjoyed the hospitality of Claudia and Giovanni. Room 319 has to balconies and a kitchen. We promise to come back...
The lobby is a beautiful place to relax after a good and healthy breakfast and look into the newspapers and you still have the view to the pool and the beach. This hotel was build in 2008 and is well managed and maintained.
