My husband & I just arrived home from staying a night at The Birches at Ben Eoin Country Inn. We were celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary. Everything was perfect, the room was large & beautiful, the hot tub perfect, the atmosphere serene & Hosts Barbara & Larry MacPherson were wonderful. I could have talked with Barb all day, very nice, inviting person. They made us feel very welcome & catered to our every need. They made sure we were comfortable & had everything we wanted. We will recommend this Inn to anyone & hope to have more Celebrations at the Inn with the MacPhersons. Thanks so much Barb & Larry!!!

We love to travel and have visited many spots over the world and can think of few overnight accommodations that treated us so hospitably. Our room was large and spotless. Barbara our host couldnt do enough for us. The food in the restaurant exceptional as well as the service. Couldn't recommend it enough. This is a great spot to start or end your trip around Bras d' Dor Lake region.

Had a very nice stay! everything was up to par..the only draw back was there was a shortage of three different items which we asked for more of.....these were basic food items..we would even have offered to pay extra to have them, but they weren't available..seems strange in a business of that type..it was a disappointment..that was the only complaint we had everything else was great...but this is something that should be addressed, as it reflects negatively on your experience there...

We stayed for two nights at the birtches as part of our 10-day trip through Nova Scotia. It is a beautiful place with an amazing restaurant to boot. The food here is quite nice! The staff are all friendly and helpful. The only negative about this place is that it is a bit away from many of the things that people typically do on Cape Breton: it is a bit of a drive before you hit the cabot trail, and it is a bit of drive before you hit touristy towns like Baddeck.

My sister and I, along with our friend stayed two nights at The Birches. We were very impressed with the warm welcome by Barbara. We felt like we were visiting family. Our hosts were wonderful, making sure all of our needs were met and our comfort seemed to be a priority. The room was lovely, the hot tub devine.Barbara served us cold drinks while we soaked, after a long day of exploring the Cabot Trail. This place is above average,by far the best of all of our two weeks stay in Canada. Thanks, Larry & Barbara for a memorable experience. If we ever end up in Cape Breton again, we will be sure to stay here!!!

Our travel plans changed fairly last minute, and we tried to cancel 48 hrs ahead of time.. they refused and gave us no choice as we didnt meet the 72 hour cancellation policy.. Im sorry, but everywhere else in the area has a 48 hour cancellation so we were a bit bitter about it.. They did what they could to make us feel welcome on arrival and the Inn itself is very lovely and modern. Inn is located 30 min outside of Sydney with nothing close by for eating (though we were impressed with there in house, yet high end priced restaurant). This place is great for the 40+ crowd but wouldn't recommend it for the 20 something couples..

I had chosen this place since our origianl B & B was unable to keep us for four nights..how fortunate. Our room was perfect with the oversized bed and extra space to stretch out. Highlight was the evening dinner. My wife and I sat down for a quiet meal after three days of driving the Cabot Trail twice (once in each diection), and walking around the Louisbourg Fort. Shortly after sitting, a large party of people arrived to celebrate a birthday. My wife and I were not up to the noise level, so we politely asked if we could order and have the meal delivered to our room. Enter our host Barb, she said that she would take care of our needs and rather than have the staff climb the stairs to our room, led us to unused suite at the end of the hall on the main floor. She proceeded to have the table set in said suite. My wife and I sat in awe as were catered and served I might add by Barb. Bottle wine, fine music, and excellent food. What a way to end the tour of the island. Thanks Barb!!!
