This was a beautiful Inn right beside the very scenic Walter Falls and on the Bruce Trail. It is in a very quite town so it is perfect for a winter getaway that is filled with snowshoeing, hiking, relaxing and getting pampered with the spa services.

The staff was very friendly, informative and helpful. The cost for the stay was very reasonable given what was included in the price.

The food was great. The Sunday brunch was possibly the best spread of food that I have seen in an Inn or hotel.

We were there for a friends very intimate wedding and it was the perfect location for this. Just the right size with all of the necessary ammenities.

The only constructive criticism that I have for the Inn is that the beds were not very comfortable as they sunk in the middle. This is something that is not good for our backs and made for a very uncomfortable sleep. The TV in the room (not that we spent a lot of time in there) really did not work very well. Finally, there was no heat in the hallway that our room was off of. Once again this is not a place where we spent very much time however it was something that was quite noticeabl to say the least.

Room Tip: Ask for a room off of the main hallway that faces the falls. This will give you the best view and ke...

Hi Kelly H,

Thank you for posting your informative review. We are happy to hear you enjoyed most of your stay.

So you know, we do rotate the mattresses to avoid the sinking you indicated. I am sorry if your stay was late in that maintenance. You may have been in a room that see more guests than others. We are reviewing the timing of the rotation to see what we can do going forward.

As far as the hallway heat and cooling, the hallways do have an in-floor system to keep them from getting crazy warm or cold - but as our 'green policy' page indicates in the guestroom book, we do hot heat or cool passageways to normal temps as guests move between these spaces to the guestroom or dining room - they are not intended to congregate in. With this policy we can make a great impact on our carbon footprint, important when operating on a waterfall in the country.

I am not sure what issues you had with your TV. The system is an off-the-shelf Expressvu satellite system. Again a reality of operating in the country. Your guestbook indicates how it operates and front desk is happy to assist if you encounter issues. We have not had any units offline this season so it may have been an instruction issue? You will be happy to know we have upgraded the TVs in the Cherry and Mahogany rooms at this point to LCD units - but the operation remains the same. On a return trip please ask for a demonstration. We would be happy to assist.

Thank you again for the review.

My husband and I have just arrived home from our one night stay at this beautiful Inns. We have a wonderful time with too many things too compliment on this little winter wonderland. The guest room is very charming and cozy; the elegant dining room with stunning view; the food is great;
the staffs are friendly and extremely helpful but best of all the sunday breakfast brunch is exceptional and the hike in the Bruce trail in the back of this property is magical in the snowfall...highly recommend for those who enjoy winter hiking and good food.

My wife and I went to the restaurant here for their "date night" special in August and were very impressed. The setting and window view of the river gorge was fit for a postcard. The food was excellent as was the service. Our waitress Kim was just wonderful. You could tell she wanted our night to be special. She suggested a great local red wine from Coffin Ridge Winery which really nice. My wife had the lamb and I had the risotto, both were done to perfection. Overall it was a great experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Hi jcm664,

Thank you for your wonderful comments. Date night and wing night (or wingsday as we like to call it) have become a great draw for the dining room and lounge. These specials will continue for guest not already enjoying another discount for the foreseeable future.

Small inn with 15 rooms in a country setting. Park the car and relax. No need to drive anywhere. Enjoy a drink with friends in your room overlooking the ravine and falls before heading to the dining room. A great chef ensures quality food for all meals. All bedrooms, dining room and pub have a view of the falls and ravine. Spa on site for that extra pampering. Great place for a small wedding or conference, or a quiet week-end away.

The hotel describes the rooms as "luxury". The TV set is the smallest we have seen in a long time. We were supplied wiht one thin piece of soap for two people. No additonal soap was supplied on the second day until we complained. Only one towel per personwas supplied and there were only four coat hangers. The thermostat was broken and could only be adjusted by taking off the cover and moving the broken lever. Pricey but hardly luxurious. In contrast to this the food was very good.

Hi George G,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We use the term 'Luxury' in our marketing to describe the seclusion of the Inn from urban centres. We use the term for the hand stained hardwoods we milled in-town for the lobby, lounge and dining room walls. We use the term for the private falls-side balcony on every guestroom as well as the thick pillow-top mattresses that are challenged only by the duvets on top of them. We use the term for the meticulously inspected and pressed Egyptian cotton sheets and the 2 oversized bath sheets you indicated. As well as the 2 hair towels, 2 face cloths and linen bath mat all provided that you did not detail in your review. We also use the term for the house-made cookies provided on arrival with tea, coffee and decaf coffee on the bar counter above the fridge that holds real cream and real milk in every room. We also use the term to describe the shampoo, conditioner, hand cream, liquid soap, makeup remover, pewter ring holder, rubber duck and bar soap provided to every guest. True, there is only one bar. The second soap is provided in liquid form as is expected by travelers now. You requested extra from the front desk and we were happy to provide it in addition to everything else. Service could also fall under the reason we use the term. Yes, the plastic control on the thermostat can become brittle and break over time. You can feel the slider with your finger without the need to remove the pop-off cover in most cases. But I understand that is not the point. We have more thermostats on order to replace the ones that were damaged by the ending air-conditioning season. The remote thermostat on the in-room climate system is otherwise another luxury as most units have an inaccurate dial under the lid that does not make the room as comfortable as our on-wall remote unit. We are in the process of fixing the damage to restore full glory. And yes, as stated in other reviews, I hope to upgrade the TVs in the future as well. But the added extras and the provided onsite meals (we are happy to hear you enjoyed!) I think gives us every license to use the term luxury. And as always, we are happy to provide more of anything our guest prefer during their stay, once we know what that is.

I am a little confused, as at check-out when Meg asked you how you enjoyed your stay the only response we got was 'this place is lovely'. Not exactly the same as the review posted here. I hope that indicates that the soap (after more was provided), TV and thermostat were not able to overshadow the rest of what is offered here?

Best Regards,

Our daughter held her wedding at the Inn early September. The venue was perfect, the scenery spectacular and the staff at the Falls Inn are exceptional - everyone not only professional, but the perfect balance of friendliness that made it clear their first priority was making sure the guest were comfortable and enjoying their stay.

The Inn-keeper prepared many little extras to make my daughters day even more special. All of the guests were impressed.

The location next to the falls and the river is beautiful, the rooms are nicely furnished and the food in the restaurant excellent.

It was a wonderful experience and we will be going back often.

No comment on the spa as we have no experience with its services.

Travelers Jaunt had an offer for a stay at this Inn and we were planning a visit with Family in Barrie so I jumped at the offer to extend our getaway for a night thanks to Travelers Jaunt.

I was very happy with our stay at The Falls Inn. The little extras were great. We stayed in a room at the end, closest to the Falls, the room had two double beds, it would've been nice to have a king size bed but the room was so nice, who could complain. The ceilings were at least 12 feet high with a ceiling fan. There was a bottle of white wine from the Coffin Ridge winery chilling on ice and two cookies waiting for us when we checked in. There was a cute little yellow rubber ducky on the edge of the bath tub, nice touch! They also had a small DVD library that you could borrow a movie and the room had a DVD player, free wifi and free long distance included. Our package also included breakfast the next morning and it was very good. We had coffee, juice followed by scones with Jam and yogurt. There was also a menu that you could order from and two of the meals were included in the package if you wanted anything else from the menu they would deduct the value of the included breakfast. We had the maple walnut french toast that was included, VERY yummy. All in all we had a great little getaway at The Falls Inn and will definately return if we're in the area again.
