This is our second holiday at QQ and this time we stayed 7 nights in a large, kitchenette equipped room. We had plans to go travelling around the neighbouring towns but in fact ended up staying put and completely switching off. The place is of heritage interest in itself, the acre or so of gardens is superb with birdlife and beautiful flowers plus a pool and many fountains. Our bed was extremely comfy and it was great to have cable and free wifi. The place is old (antique) but kept very clean. Every corner is also packed with antiques and paintings (many of which are by the talented owner) so you never run out of things to look at. If you just want to veg out, you can sit in one of the many garden 'rooms' that guarantee that even if the place is full, you will hardly notice another guest. It is traditional Mexican and very much recommended for people who want to stay somewhere unique. Rob, one of the owners, is a master at making great breakfasts and in our week, provided a different (and substantial) array of treats every morning in a room that is completely entrancing. His staff are trustworthy and friendly people and you can safely leave things in the room as they will not be touched. The pool is more of a large dipping pool and is an old one but is kept clean and is all you need for keeping cool. Rooms are not air-conditioned but there are fans and we prefer this. The climate is not as extreme as other parts of Mexico so this is more than adequate. No fitness centre but there are many places to walk including a massive park a few blocks along the lakeshore. The position is set back one house length from the lakeside so you can stroll to the craft market or numerous other shops or go to the food market a couple of blocks further into the main street of Chapala and pick up some food for meals. Rob & Lorri, the owners, answer their emails promptly with details etc.. It is a taxi ride from the Guadalajara airport or bus-station but that is around the same price as hoofing it by several buses and far more convenient. I definitely would return!

Room Tip: We didn't have trouble sleeping at all but if you are a light sleeper, ask for a room far from the street. The owners will let you check out the rooms and make a choice and each has its own interest and theme.

Rob & Lorri were accommodating hosts for our week-and-a-half stay at the lovely Quinta Quetzalcoatl in Chapala. The flower-filled grounds are a relaxing oasis, and the sounds of birds was a wonderful. Breakfast each morning was an interesting surprise--Rob is quite the cook!--and our room was comfortable and clean. Our hosts were an excellent resource for anything we needed as well as any questions we had about the area.

QQ is half a block from Lake Chapala's edge, and is a short walk to everything.

We have several friends living in the Chapala/Ajijic area who heard about QQ but never visited. After touring QQ they were just like us: They did not want to leave.

Highly recommended.

This b and b is in a beautiful, very safe location within walking distance to restaurants and the malecon. The hosts are truly accommodating, and the breakfasts were great. My room was nicely appointed with a lovely terrace for sitting. The room was clean. The only change I would suggest is an update on the beds. There only was a mattress on the frame, and it was hard on the hips. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

Room Tip: Pick a lower floor room due to the noise from the nightclubs.

My sister and I stayed here for a week last spring and we absolutely enjoyed everything about it. Our emails were answered immediately, the room was spotless and nicely decorated. The breakfast was filling, presented well and different each day. Fresh fruit yogurt parfaits, avocado omelettes and a gorgeous dining area. This is by far the best place to stay in Chapala.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Plumed Serpent room. 2 beds, quiet lush setting.
