I was a guest at the 65th birthday party of a dear friend last Monday and had the opportunity to spend the night at the Villa San Francisco in Chapala where the party was being held. The hotel is exquisite and attention to every detail is very evident. The rooms each have a musical theme and I stayed in the Era Romantica. My fireplace quickly took care of the chilliness of the Lake Chapala area winter evening. and I was able to sit out on my private balcony and enjoy an evening view of the garden. All in all, a delightful experience that I would highly recommend. Oh yes, and the staff were wonderful as well and the breakfast, which is included, couldn't have been better.

Yesterday this fine and luxurious boutique hotel hosted a surprise party for my partner's 65th party. From the first planning meeting until late last night, it was a pleasure and joy to organize and work with the owners.

Tony and Rosanne Wilshere and their fine staff with manager Ricardo Hernandez made all aspects fun and wonderfully enjoyable.

From the gorgeous decor of each room themed to music, the efficient and accommodating staff, to the dinner catered by Andrew Robertson beginning with a cocktail party in the garden, it was just plain fantastic!

There were heaters on the terrace where dinner was served, a cake with staff singing for the birthday person, coffee delivered to the suite in the am before we enjoyed a delicious breakfast which was included.

Even the charger plates and napkins have the music theme, which is playing in every room. They even helped us surprise the birthday boy and kept the secret!

The most charming Wilsheres had extra surprises and joined in the fun, my guests were hugely impressed and now we are all thinking of other occasions we can conjure up so we can repeat the experience.

Try it, You'll love it! Thanks again to all involved for the best birthday ever.

Room Tip: All are as fine as any.....pick your musical theme! View of Lake Chapala is a nice touch especially...

In early December, we drove from Canada to Mexico with our final destination being the Lake Chapala area. Our first night was an unexpected, but fantastic experience in Chapala, a lively town with a wonderful lake front to indulge all your senses. We checked into Villa San Fransisco, a true "boutique hotel" with exquisit detail in it's conception and design. The unique musically themed hotel offers everything a 5 star hotel can offer (at much better prices!) - quiet rooms, pristine hygiene, cozy fire-places and delightfully comfortable beds with duvet covers that have you sleeping peacefully and gently as if under a cloud - white, white, pure white. The staff were friendly, efficient and had a very good command of English, but also were generous listeners when we wanted to try out our faulty Spanish. We also enjoyed breakfast on the front terrace the next morning with a full range of options to fill you up for the day's sight seeing on the malecon or discovering the interesting people and places on the lake. We can highly recommend VSF in Chapala, Jalisco in Mexico. Bravo VSF we hope to do an encore pronto! Berns&Alan - Toronto

Room Tip: We had a room with private balcony looking over the delightful inner garden.

On November 20th 2011 my wife and I embarked on a 7 day trip to drive from Canada to Lake Chapala, during which we encountered many hotels of dubious quality and hygiene. As I had booked a hotel in the town of Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico, sight unseen, I was concerned on its accommodation status as it was not listed in Trip advisor.
On arrival at the Boutique Hotel Villa San Francisco (VSF) in Chapala, which has been in operation for three months, we were warmly greeted, shown two suites to choose from, then checked in with assistance with a large amount of luggage and had our car parked for us in a private parking area. We spent four nights at the VSF, which also includes an excellent breakfast, a very reasonable priced bar menu. The suites were beautifully equipped, spacious with very comfortable beds.
We were most satisfied with our stay, the suite costs were very reasonable and VSF has an excellent quiet location in Chapala, close to the lake. To sum up our stay, the Hotel San Francisco was a 5 star stay at 3 star pricing. I can, without reservation, recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the region of Lake Chapala.
