“Clean and basic - conveniently situated & budget priced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

As this is a lodge you do expect that it is for short stays and aims at a budget value price.
It was fine for a short family trip as we had relatives to go to, the rooms are clean and the children on a sofa bed - which leaves little space to move around. The staff were all friendly and efficient in the lodge part.
We were on the upstairs floor so had a view of the rapeseed field at the back - which is interesting as although not on the ground floor at the front you are at ground level at the back! The 6 year old thought it was a magic upside down hotel!
The parking is plentiful and free. There are supermarkets just opposite and it's easy to find on a main road into Beverley.
It had all the facilities you'd expect tea & coffee, no wardrobe but wall based hangers & a dressing table and TV & hairdryer - having read on trip advisor about the soap dispensers I took my own toiletries, there were no face cloths either so take one if you need one & only plastic cups in the bathroom. I asked for more towels as there weren't enough & the staff were happy to oblige.
The worse thing I thought was the breakfast - as the Toby carvery is so busy anyway you and up queuing or wandering around looking for staff to get you glasses, cups, spoons etc as they run out. It's basic cereals, fruit, yoghurts, toast & when it's run out that seemed to be it!
I didn't like the dirty bin next to the breakfast table to put your cereal box in personally.

Room Tip: the upper floor might be better

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 10 years. The location is excellent for us to be close to friends and relatives in the area. The rooms are decorated to a good standard and the bathrooms are good. The carpet cleanliness, in the rooms and alleyways, needs improvement and more frequent, or effective, vacuuming would not go amiss. Having said that the bed linen is always spotless and the towels and bathrooms are very clean. We find the beds too soft and bouncy for our taste.
A complementary breakfast is provided but cleanliness in the restaurant is poor. Window sills, chairs and tables are normally covered in food crumbs. Cutlery in the restaurant, at breakfast times, is in a poor state of cleanliness. Plates and cereal bowls are often found wet. Most of the problems with cutlery and crockery could be solved with better management of dishwashers and a little more care from staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back as the nearby road can be noisy as some of the windows do not seal effect...

We had booked in to the Innkeepers Lodge on recommendation from a family member, the staff at reception were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and basic, not too fond of the soap/shampoo dispensers but this is maybe the way forward. We overlooked the parking lot but room, on the second floor was quiet enough. Bathroom was clean as was the room. The complimentary breakfast was very basic, felt it could have been better and the toaster was a bit of a nightmare. As we were down in Hull attending a relative's funeral we did not eat at the carvery restaurant so unable to comment on that. I expect for the price the room and facilities were OK

A last minute decision to visit the museums of Hull and this was an ideal location. Warm friendly greeting, good clean room, continental breakfast included but full english available (extra charge). Bus stop close so used the bus to get into centre of Hull. Not 5 star luxery but very good value for money.

We stayed for 3 nights and found the staff pleasent and helpfull. The room was clean and tidy. The Toby carvery next door was excellent value for both evening meal and breakfast. The meals were excellent (I could not eat all mine). If you want 5 star service at budget prices it is not for you but at £155.00 for two of us, B & B for 3 nights, nobody could have any reason to complain. We will certainly be staying again when we are staying in the area overnight. One of the best budget lodges we have stayed at. Idealy situated next to the main road but not noisy. The rooms are a bit small if you wanted to stay in but are Ideal for an overnight stay.

We have stayed here twice before and both times enjoyed our stay, this time we had room 109 , pretty standard room, but shocking view.
On our previous visits the breakfasts have been great, with grapefruit, baguettes, and danish pastries etc.. This time how ever sliced bread (brown or white) stale croissants, sticky buns, and corn flakes.. toast you can make your self in what looks like an antique toaster ( it has to be fifty years old if it's a day), coffee tea and fruit juices all good..
Staff at grass roots were excellent and couldn't do enough for you, chatty and friendly, but middle management not so welcoming, no sign of senior staff at all, even though we stayed eight days in total..
Would stay again, but only if we had a room with a view of more than three yards , and the breakfasts were back to last years standard..

Room Tip: room 109 has a view of the back of the toby inn with extractor fans blowing all day and night. I nev...

Stayed here for two nights. Rooms comfy and clean. Ensuite shower rooms were full sized and spacious.
Nice touches for a budget hotel including drink making facilities and free wifi. Good location for what we needed. Free continental breakfast a bonus.
Would defiantly use again.
