I booked the Barn for the weekend for 10 of us to stay for my Sisters Hen do.
From the moment I rang to enquire about booking, right through to our arrival & stay, the service from Maxine and Matt was faultless- they were both friendly, helpful and knowledgable, and the booking process was simple and straightforward.
The accommodation itself is fantastic. The whole place is incredibly well equipped, and is finished to a very high standard. There is everything you need for a week or weekend away with a group of all ages. Big kitchen, spacious living room and large dining room great for big groups. Bedrooms all with en-suites, great showers and comfortable beds. There were also delicious freshly baked cakes on arrival from the village shop down the road, as well as eggs & milk.
We had a great weekend & I really can't fault Holestone Moor Barns - highly recommend & we hope to return soon! Thanks Maxine & Matt!

I found this place when looking for a large enough holiday cottage for a family reunion with 10 adults and four children (7months-65years!). It fitted the bill perfectly. We booked both properties together and there was loads of space, both to spend time together and to get a bit of time out. The games barn was a particular hit with something for all ages and the pool table in the Barn meant that we could enjoy competing in the evening whilst the children were asleep. There is a big table and chairs in the courtyard (which is a little sloping so be careful - perhaps a wooden deck underneath might help?) and lots more outside space about 20m away with a play area and picnic tables. The owners were very friendly and helpful in showing the chickens to the kids and suggesting local walks. All in all I would definitely recommend for large family groups.

Thank you for taking a moment to leave us a great review. It is very satisfying to hear you enjoyed all aspects of your stay and found the grounds and games room a hit with everyone. Thank you also for your feedback. Yes we have been thinking about adding decking to our cobbled court yard to enhance the seating area even further, to appreciate those stunning views of Riber Castle and beyond.

Thanks again, and we hope you'll choose Holestone Moor Barns holiday cottages the next time you're in Derbyshire and take full advantage of the returning guest discount.

We booked both barns for a large group on a stag weekend. The properties are very comfortably furnished, were very clean on arrival and the owners were very friendly. They had also supplied milk, fresh eggs and cakes which was a nice touch. Though the owners live close by, they left us to our own devices, but were on hand for taxi numbers etc. They also recommended clay pigeon shooting at the local farm, little did we realise the "farmer" is a British Olympic shooting coach. The property is an absolute treat, comfortable beds, fantastic showers and big open plan dining/lounge areas for large groups. Cannot speak highly enough of the property and its owners.

We booked both barns for 13 people for a hen weekend. The barns were incredibly well equipped and the table seated all of us with ease. Very comfortable rooms and it was great having so many ensuite bathrooms. The surroundings were beautiful, the cakes provided on arrival even better. We were able to cook easily for all of us, ashover was close by for a meal out and plenty of walks nearby and entertainment in the games room. It was the perfect setting for our weekend and all the girls commented on how lovely the accommodation was.

thanks very much!!

Rachel

We booked both buildings for a family birthday party. We were welcomed by Maxine who showed us around and made it clear that they were on call should we have any problems. There were some lovely cakes from the local café waiting for us on arrival.

The cottages were both very warm and we were able to adjust the heating to suit, as well as using copious amounts of logs to keep the main lounge warm. The accommodation is very spacious and there are plenty of bathrooms and loos. There is bags of cutlery and crockery which means that you don't have to wait for the previous lot to be cleaned before you start again!

There is a games room in a separate building which was great for kids of all ages (over 60 in some cases!). There are a number of relatively easy walks from the property, we did a very nice one (on Matt's recommendation) to Ashover where there is a very nice pub (Poets' Corner) for a break before walking back up the hill.

The location is great - Matt showed the youngsters his chickens - hence the multi-coloured eggs in the welcome pack!

We were made very welcome and would very much recommend this to anyone wanting a rural holiday.

Holestone Moor Barns situated about four miles east of Matlock is an excellently appointed self-catering establishment. The views all around are a really uplifting tonic. The accommodation is excellent having a gleaming stone floor throughout,a baronial style dining table which can seat fourteen comfortably and a wood burning stove in a large and comfortable lounge. The provision of crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and dishes in a very well appointed kitchen is everything you would wish for at home.Importantly, everything works including showers, electric cooker, dishwasher, T.V.' wood burning stove electric heating and beds of great comfort.Maxine and Matt are great hosts - we were greeted with a large cream cake, free range eggs and a pint of milk. What a welcome! Unhesitating recommendation
