“GOOD”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

I was staying with my sister who lives in Sandy and we had intended to go to another pub which we found to be fully booked so drove on a few miles then found the Anchor Inn. We had really lovely meals, I had the veg lasagne and my sister had the liver - both were excellent. A large party of people arrived about the same time as us but we got our meals pretty quickly. Reasonable prices too. Plenty of parking, lovely setting, friendly staff. Outside seating area facing the river was nice. Glad we found you - we will come again next time I am visiting Bedfordshire.

“Not up to scratch”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2014 via mobile

We live in the village, so this is our local. The pub itself is nice, with a good selection of beers. The restaurant is very mixed, starters (squid & wild boat terrine) were decent but our fish mains were poor, more batter than fish, whilst the chips were not home made, if they were homemade, then I would suggest the chef buys in some tesco finest or aunt Bessie's!

When we complained, we got a "sorry guys" and that was it!!! £50 spent, totally dissatisfied.

Drinks only next time!

“super roast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2014

We were total strangers in this part of the country and desperately looking for somewhere to have lunch as it was already past 2 o'clock on a Sunday when we stumbled across this pub, it was obviously popular as it was packed and we thought no chance but we will try. When we walked in all the tables were taken but the staff very kindly set us up a table in the bar area. We were expecting big delays, but no, we were attended to very quickly and decided on the roast beef option from the choice of roasts on the board. Normally we do not choose the beef in a pub as the quality can be poor, not this time, the beef was properly cooked and very tender with two types of potato and three veg, excellent. The sweet courses were delicious and the cheese board well above average. Good friendly service under pressure and most reasonable prices.
Well worth a visit , but try to get there earlier than we did !

“Relaxing atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014

Never visited this pub/restaurant until this weekend even though I only live 5 miles away. Went for Mothers day lunch and was not at all disappointed. Lovely food, I had the gammon streak, which was massive and really tasty not the typical reformed meat you normally get for "pub grub", great service, the young ladies serving us were very pleasant and helpful despite being rushed off their feet, we weren't rushed to vacate the table on such a busy day and it had a very relaxing atmosphere. And a beautiul walk along the river. will most definately be visiting here again

“Good Pub Grub”

Lovely rural pub, enjoyed an excellent 'pub grub' meal. Portion sizes were good, not overwhelming. Recommended
