“Great Time/Trip”
Reviewed 29 April 2013

Stayed at Secrets Silversands at the beginning of April 2013, nothing but good experiences there. Staff was very accommodating, food was great, as was the weather.

Had a swim out room, in hind sight didn't spend too much time (no time at all) near my room, so wouldn't recommend spending the extra money on this if you plan on hanging out by the main pool or beach during your stay.

We have just returned from Secrets Silver Sands. The only problem with this resort is that the straws in the drinks are too long and are not flexible...That is it! The service, the food, the amenities are perfect!

Room Tip: Ask for an oceanfromt room on the ground floor!

The hotel is situated a bit of a spin from the Airport, but when you get there you may not want to leave. With many restaurants (around 7 I think) spread around the complex, everyday can be a different dining experience ranging from Mexican to Other ethnic delights. There is a buffet to decide from from Breakfast which has a vast an array of food, you won't be hungry. The rooms are spacious and very clean, and in fairness there is always a staff members busy cleaning keeping the whole place looking well. Would go back again, and I would recommend

My boyfriend and I stayed at Secrets Silversands from 4/20-4/26 and traveled with another couple. We had high expectations going in because we stayed at Secrets Puerto Vallarta last April. After our week at Silversands, we couldn't have been more happy with our choice to stick with Secrets!

We arrived on Friday and had booked a Preferred Club Junior Suite Swimout. Upon arriving, the entire staff was very welcoming, providing you with a cold washcloth and a glass of champagne. We were informed upon arriving that Secrets had actually overbooked our rooms and they didn't have a Junior Suite swimout available. Fadhir (the Preferred Club manager) said that if we agreed to stay at Secrets Maroma for one night, they would upgrade us and our friends to a Master Suite swimout. We were a little apprehensive at first, with Secrets Maroma being approx 30 minutes away, but we're pretty easy going and agreed to it. Fadhir was extremely apologetic and extremely nice about the entire ordeal. We spent the night at Secrets Maroma (transportation was also provided by Secrets!) and had a great first night! The beach at Maroma is incredible and the resort is beautiful! It all ended up actually working out great because we were able to see two resorts in one trip!

We headed back to Secrets Silversands the next day and just as Fadhir had promised, both of our rooms had been upgraded to Master Suite swimouts in the preferred club! The check in process was easy, Fadhir in the preferred club was amazing the whole time. Adauco (who also was working in the Preferred Club) went over all the details and paperwork of the rooms with us, and he was awesome as well! Very funny and informative! Like I said, the Master Suites are absolutely incredible. The decor and attention to detail is amazing, we were very impressed with it!

The food and drinks at this resort were amazing!! All of the restaurants were top notch, but our two favorites were Portofino (the Italian restaurant) and Himitsu (the Japanese restaurant). The food at these two restaurants were so good! At Portofino I had the fetuccini alfredo, on of our friends had the osso bucco and couldn't believe how good it was! A young man at Portofino made us bananas foster that was so delicious! The sushi at Himitsu was a huge surprise, we couldn't believe how great it was! The World Cafe buffet for breakfast was consistently delicious as well! Even though there is 24 hour room service, I was craving the omelettes at the World Cafe every morning! At Ratatouille, the lamb chops were delicious and cooked perfectly! The Mariachi band at El Patio was a huge hit as well. April was also Burger Fest, and we did try the Couch Potato and Virgin burgers (both amazing!!). We spent most of the days just drinking by the pool, going down the list of delicious summery drinks on their menu! Every day there is a "Drink of the Day" which is always good.

The service at this resort was second to none. Every employee we encountered was friendly, always had a smile on their face and always wanting to make the guests happy! Fadhir and Adauco in the preferred club were amazing. Fadhir even provided both couples with a bottle of wine for the confusion on the first day! Michelle the hostess was also amazing! We saw her almost every night at a different restaurant and she always remembered us and made us feel so welcome! Amanda and Suki were bringing us our drinks every day at the pool and were amazing! Super efficient, friendly, and always had a great suggestion for a good drink!! My boyfriend and I got amazing massages from Sonia and Aurelio in the Spa! The maid for the room was also phenomenal! She would make cute little hearts and saying out of the leaves and flowers right outside our suite and put them on the bed and couch, such a cute touch! I hope I didn't leave anyone out because they were all outstanding!

Another cool thing to check out is the shows at night. We went to the Rock Show and were legitimately impressed!! The band sounded awesome and the dancers put on such a great show! The Cirque show was also great!

Overall we couldn't be more happy with our trip!! We checked out the Mayan Ruins in Tulum, had amazing weather, phenomenal service, and delicious food and drink! The other couple that came with us had never been to a Secrets resort prior to this but they will definitely be returning!! They were so happy with our choice of resort, I don't think I can find one negative about this resort!! Everything exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to come back someday!!

Just got home from Secret silver sands, there were 8 of us (girls work trip). We could only eat together at one of the restaurants, we couldn't use our $200 per room credit on anything, we were promised a "free picture" we went to schedule it they said "oh, that's for couples only"!! The man at the hostess stand in the french restaurant told us that we couldn't eat there because there were 8 of us & he wanted us to buy a $200 bottle of wine (that we couldn't use our room credit towards of course) & he would split us up 4 & 4. When we told him we didn't want to spend that on the wine he said "well then you'd never appreciate french food"! RUDE!
Anyways, the after dinner shows aren't great! The drinks & food were OK. The staff was very nice, the pool area is nice as well.
On a better note, the rooms stay cool & the beds are very comfortable!
I would definitely not recommend Secret silver sands unless you have your other half!

My husband and I stayed at silver Sands last week. Over all we were pleased. The resort is beautiful very sleek and modern. We were warned about the beach not being the greatest but we came prepared with water shows and were able to enjoy the beach. As well, they are constantly raking the seaweed off of the beach.
The food was pretty good. We were a bit disappointed that we were unable to order grilled fish at the seafood restaurant. Our favorite restaurant was the French restaurant. the Aztec soup at the Mexican restaurant was really really good. A lot of people were complaining about the sushi restaurant but we really enjoyed it
This resort was a very social resort. If your looking for a quiet romantic resort it may not be for you. The beach was a little more private as well as the smaller private pool but the main pool was definitely a party area so if that's your thing you will love it!!!
Over all we enjoyed our stay the service was awesome, our favorite server was Philippe, always had a smile on his face :) we were well taken care of

We just got back from a week at Secrets Silver Riviera Cancun on April 27th. It was wonderful. We opted for a ocean view room and it was worth the extra money as our room was easily located to all the restaurants, showroom and bars. The food was the best that we have had in any all inclusive. We did a lot of the activities and enjoyed most of them. Rango on the entertainment staff along with Debbie were a joy to be around. I would definitely recommend this trip and plan on going back in the near future.
