I can't say enough about the resort... My girlfriend and I visited it twice in 4 months! The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and courteous. The food is great, and the grounds are beautiful. We did the " preferred " club, which we found at a deal both times we went. It's well worth the, in our case $24.00 for the week... Yes $24.00 lol. 24/7 room service, reserved areas of the beach, it's own pool and bar if that's to your liking... It was a great deal.
The Sand Bar was the highlight of the trip for us... It's a quaint bar, on the beach.. The main bartender Cesar, was incredible, along with his staff. We spent many hours enjoying the conversations with the staff as well as the guests. This place is a must!

The only thing I need to warn about is the " club " that the resort is going to try and get you to join.
Unlimited Vacation Club... Aka. UVC. We did some research on this club, and found it to be nothing but a scam... It actually has an F rating with the BBB, tons of disgruntled members with issues beyond belief... Avoid them at all costs! They will try and pressure you to take their tour, etc.. I would encourage anyone to do research on them before attending their sermon.

Happy Vacationing!

This resort is awful. It is full of Mexican locals. Disgusting food that people have to wait in line forever for. The only thing good to eat is the popcorn. Cheesy at best annoying pool "entertainment". Very uncomfortable beds. Decently clean until you really look a something. This was a free trip for us, if I would have had to pay I would have been really mad. Americans with any taste level... Don't go.

This is my second trip to Riviera Maya and I enjoyed the relaxed family feeling of the Now Sapphire. You had a view of the ocean and beach walking around the grounds. The grounds were kept up daily by hand. All staff members (maids, bellboys, waiters, bus boys, bartenders, waitress's , ground keeper's and entertainment staff) were excellent. The entertainment staff talked and joked around with vacationer's daily while getting them to participate in the daily activities. Luis, Fredy, Fermin, Leo, Marco, Miguel, Marion and Erica made our stay an excellent experience. Even if it was raining Luis, Fredy, Fermin, Leo, Marco, Miguel, Marion and Erica got you to participate in activities inside the resort. I've been to other resorts and the entertainment staff does not compare to the entertainment staff at the Now Sapphire. I would tell family and friends to stay at the Now Sapphire Riviera Maya.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground level may leak from the patio door if it rains had.

We were there Aug 31 to Sept 6. Met some wonderful people. Room started out with 2 double beds, when we requested months in advance a king bed and told we would have that. They suggested to push the 2 beds together, I dont think so after spending the money we spent and asking for this months ahead of time. THe next night we did get the king size bed and in a much better area too. We were there for our anniversary and ordered the anniversary package, we never got that, only a sign on our door but not the other things they told us were included. We reminded them about 4 times and still nothing. Sometimes they tell you what you want to hear but do not follow thru. I agree with several others about the buffet and other areas of the resort being too hot, with no air. The French restaurant had wonderful food, we went 3 times, but horrible service. we had twice an older waiter, he was rude and very very slow. The other visit, we had a very nice young man wait on us. The food took forever all 3 times, I am saying be prepared to spend up to 3 to 4 hours in that restaurant. The staff in the buffet are awesome and very very nice, great service. Beach is not so nice, but we had alot of rain so its to be expected. Elmer by the boats, is helpful and super nice. Main pool is nice, but at times hard to relax and enjoy due to large Drunken groups there, dancing on the bar and making fools out of themselves. Sorry for the small children that were there, not a good place for them. Entertainment was good, a little too pushy with the alcohol but some liked that I am sure. We said NO to the time shares, and that was it, no problem. Spa and coupons received was a rip off, not a good deal at all. You can walk down the beach to a white tent for "Massages" and its $35.00 for an hour, and they are very professional and do a great job. Puerto Morelos is about a 50 minute walk down the beach and a nice thing to do, nice little town. They do things a little slow in Mexico so be prepared. I did find this resort to be very clean, and kept up. Always working on the landscaping, repairs on the buildings too. I think they do rate this resort a bit too high. We were very disappointed in the beach and the water being a dark blue, we were thinking it would have been that light blue and clear look to it. we did also like the Outdoor (Bluewater?) restaurant, great food, good service and not as hot at night as inside the others. Be careful on the shrimp cocktail, we do know some people that got very sick from it.

We stayed at Now Saphhire 8/28-9/4/13. The main pool is very pretty. The beach is loaded with seaweed and there are much prettier beaches elsewhere. The restaurants are not very good. The buffet is just okay. The kids area only has a few choices and they are not very good. The Asian restaurant is divided into two restaurants. The Hibachi is the worst! They do not know what they are doing. The steak tasted like liver and was inedible! The vegetables they used were not the usual in a Hibachi restaurant. The rice was not good. I don't know why they would try to do this kind of a restaurant without better effort-it was awful! The Asian side was not much better; it was just loaded with soy sauce-very salty.
The French restaurant did have good filet mignon but the portions are very tiny. The Blue Water grill was not good. Cebu is okay but not traditional Italian food. The drinks did not have brand liquor. They serve drinks and wine in cute plastic glasses but we think they rinse them and reuse them! I catually watched this at the bar near the Bluewter Grill-yuk! 3 out of 5 of us got sick-nausea and diarrhea! The preferred club price gave us 3 mini bottles of liquor (airplane size) one time and one bag of peanut M&Ms and they called that luxurious delicious chocolates! They do not restock the minibar and you ave to keep calling to get anything. You have to chase after Margarito and Ivan to try to reserve a Bali Bed and then you have to make sure that you tip them enough money to hold your reservation because they lie to you about having the bali bed the next day! Don't agree to go on their Vacation Club talk! Four hours of them trying to sell yoiu, not a timeshare, but a discounted price for future stays! The closer guy is terrible -very rude and tried to really pressure us and we just told him,"WE are out of here!" The lobby is pretty but they do not have a tv and the tv in the preferred club doesn't get anything but Spanish channels. We kept losing the wifi in the room and you have to keep calling to get another code. The room did not get cool enough even after we called to have someone who said, he fixed the problem! All 4 adults had an 80 minute massage. It was not worth it. Only one of us enjoyed it. The girl I had, actually tried bending my feet and hurt me twice. I wonder if these people are actually trained-I've never had such a bad massage! And it wasn't cheap! I agree with writer of "Now happhire Snafu"-this is not a luxurious resort-stay away!

Room Tip: Ocean front is nice

2nd time stay at Now Sapphire. First stay was a few years ago and was fine. I can't say enought about how TERRIBLE it was this time. Stayed Aug 31 thru Sept 7. Been using Apple Vacations for 23 years and this was the worst resort we ever stayed at. We use Apple at least 2 times a year. If you are new to traveling to Mexico you probably think this place is great, yes maybe 2 steps above a Motel 6. BEWARE: THIS IS NOT A GOLDEN 6 APPLE HOTEL. It's about a 3 Apple Hotel.
Don't look for premium beverages. There are none. Absolute Vodka was there the first day. After that I was told it was coming. It was never on the shelf again at the pool bar.
Food is terrible. I must say horrendous. It is recycled over and over again. Soups were horrible. Instant potatoes at night. No carving stations. White wine was nasty. Surf and turf at Blue Grill was nothing but grizzle. No barbeques at pool area. Need dry clothes to go to buffet at lunch. Chicken quesadilla at Mexican restaurant was loaded with bones. Unlike other 6 star hotels, there was only 1 flavor of ice cream. No soft ice cream or cones around pool area. Desserts had a lot to be desired. They were very small and dry. No a/c in buffet area. Too hot to eat.
A lot of people got the runs, including us, and were confined to the room for a complete night or day.
Pray you don't have to run back to your room to take a bowel movement because you never know when your key is not going to work.
Don't look for a sports bar - there really isn't one. During the day, it is a dark room with a closed bar with a pool table and no air. The stench in there was terrible.
There was never any presence of management at all. No one ever asked how anything was.
This is 2013 and the Now wants to charge $18 per day for WIFI.
The rooms are of a 2000 vintage. They were clean. Always plenty of towels in room and at the pool area. There are NOT any bed bugs. No towel animals on your bed. Got one bar of facial soap and one bar of body soap all week. The body gel was filled daily. Mini refrigerator was not filled every day until we called and complained.
Time share people are a pain in the neck. There was a group convention during the week and they took up the buffet area while all the guests had to wait 20 minutes to get seated for breakfast.
AGAIN, THIS RESORT IS FAR FROM A GOLDEN 6 APPLE. We can't understand how it is rated this high. We were fooled into booking the Now Sapphire due to this claim.
STAY AWAY. CANCEL OR CHANGE HOTELS.

We just got back from a 7-night stay at Now Sapphire, and I am ready to go back! From the minute we stepped out of the van on property, and were greeted with cold wash-cloths, to the moment we left 8 days later, everything was wonderful!

We checked-in at the Preferred Club lounge, where we had requested a King and were told the only available rooms for the week were (2) double beds but they would push them together. We are flexible, and this actually worked out better for us! Ended up not being an issue at all.

The food was great, we tried each restaurant, and ended up going back to Paramour for the filet, and Lemongrass again as well. The only complaint I have, and I expected this from other Tripadvisor reviews, is that there is no air conditioning in the restaurants. Some evenings it was hard to enjoy a nice dinner (especially my boyfriend who was required to be in dress pants), when it was so hot inside the restaurant. Looking back, it may have been a better choice to purchase a bottle of wine to sit in the tables outside to get a breeze – they were empty every single night.

We spent most of the days at the Preferred Club pool, because it was quiet and peaceful. Even if you didn’t make a reservation the day before (like they ask) you can typically still get lounge chairs around the pool. The bar was never too busy, and there are plenty of floats in the pool to relax! I would definitely recommend paying the extra amount for the preferred club access. (The other perk we liked was having canned beers available, if we wanted, instead of the draft beer. The lounge had a continental breakfast each day, and snacks in the evening, but we hardly went in except to get an air conditioning break).

The main pool is exactly how it looks in the pictures. It is beautiful! It did get pretty busy and loud in the afternoon times, after groups had some fun at the bar. It made for some great people-watching! The activities they have are also entertaining, something was happening all the time, at least every hour. We participated in pool volleyball, water aerobics, and the sushi making class. One day they even came out to the pool and walked around offering fresh sushi – YUM!

The only other all-inclusive I can compare to is the Hard Rock Punta Cana. Now Sapphire is considerably smaller, but very nice if you are looking to relax and enjoy. You don’t have to walk far to get anywhere, everything is very clean, and it is nice to have the same staff around each day! The resort was only about 20 minutes away from the airport, which makes for a quick transport.

If you are flexible, and looking for a relaxing and nice vacation, I would highly recommend Now Sapphire. It did just that for us!

Room Tip: Oceanfront Junior Suite has the best view! The private jacuzzi-tub on the patio was a great addition...
