Great location, great property, great staff members!

Having stayed at several other AMResorts properties over the years, mostly Secrets, my expectations were pretty high and overall, my expectations were met.

Overall, the food was pretty good, except for the buffet, which was hit and miss. Most of the other AMResorts properties have a beach grill near the pool, which is a great option for lunch. I wish NOW Sapphire had that as well.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and would go out of their way to make sure you had everything you needed. The pool staff were particularly friendly, especially Ahmed. Very upbeat and fun!

First let's start with the pros of this hotel. Fabulous, friendly, and helpful staff are everywhere. (Make sure you tip!) The rooms are as beautiful as the pictures and they are kept impeccably clean. The open air lobby and grounds are gorgeous and the pool is huge. There is plenty of food and alcohol and the Wi-Fi works well. We were preferred guests and so this was included in our rooms. Also included was an hour in the steam room, sauna room, and hot and cold Jacuzzis. This was SOOO relaxing and wonderful. The nightly show was nice and our kids enjoyed it.
The cons of the hotel were a little too many to make us return though. The food was okay, but WAY too salty and just average quality. The drinks were bottom top-shelf quality (think Absolut and Bacardi), but we found the sugary water mixers they called juice subpar. I was very disappointed in my mojitos as well. They are too rushed to make a good one (or to care to even though we tipped a dollar every time.) Also they don't have a drink menu, which is sometimes nice to have when you want to try new things. The beach was small and not nearly as impressive as the one in Cancun. Also it is full of seaweed, which is fine, but again in Cancun there is none. The pool is not heated and was very cold. Some of hotels in Cancun have heated pools. There is no hot tub or Jacuzzi by the pool. Plus the pool closes very early (6 pm I believe.) One of the worst things though is the ride in and out of the hotel. The road is half washed away and apparently has been for about three years. It takes like 20 minutes just to get off the main highway to the resort, which got old when we went places. And since the resort is so remote, you are sort of stuck there without spending a lot on a cab or renting a car to get to town.
Finally, we booked a beach front room and received an ocean front upon checking in. It was beautiful and all, but we were disappointed since that is not what we booked. They had no beach fronts available so we could not move either.
All in all, I would say it was okay. We had fun, but we would not return. The all inclusive we stayed in when we traveled to Jamaica was much better and there are nicer places in Cancun (the Westin Lagunamar being one of them.) We would probably skip all inclusive in Mexico in the future and stay closer to a city. The attitude of this hotel seems to be provide lots and lots of average food and drinks and a nice hotel room, and all is good. However for us, more does not equal better. We would rather have better quality food and drinks and a heated pool than all the average food and drinks we could consume. Some people seemed to like it though, so to each their own.

Room Tip: Try to book a preferred club, beach front room if you can.

We had a large group in December and had a wicked great time! The staff is top notch. We frequented all of the food venues over 7 days and particularly loved Eduardo and Elizabeth.

Our favorite entertainment staff was Ahmed. He was thoroughly enjoyable and always remembered our names! His crazy outfits always put a smile on our face. Thanks Now Sapphire and staff for creating memories to last a lifetime!

The best part of this property is the Pool and the entertainment staff, especially Ahmed. Many a long, fun day spent in and around the pool. The ground floor rooms are very musty so if you have allergies, you'll need to change to an upper floor room. Food wise, don't expect great things. The buffet restaurant was often better than the sit-down restaurants. At least the drinks are included.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are very musty.

The hotel is a bit outdated and a little musty inside and moldy on outside. The restaurants usually have a wait for dinner. There are only 4 restaurants where you can have a sit down dinner. One is closed each night, so there are actually 3 restaurants to chose from. There is a wait for lunch as there is only one restaurant open. We were pushed toward the buffett for lunch. Did not like the policy of having to reserve chairs on beach and adult pool. Not many empty chairs because most are reserved and empty.

The quality of drinks and service was poor. My experience at other Now properties was much better. I would not recommend this property.
