We stayed at Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita from April 27th to May 3rd. This was our 7th visit! Once again, the whole experience was just wonderful. There have been many, many reviews highlighting the awesome service, so I will not repeat. I just want to mention a few highlights. First of all, as always, the pickup from the airport and greeting at the resort was so nice. It really feels like coming home to us. The room is very well serviced - be sure to hang your moon on the door when you are in the room, because there is always someone stopping by to bring towels, or stock the coffee, or clean, or pick up laundry. We saw many friends from past years around the pool and at the restaurants: Antonio, Pepe, Federico, Francisco, Philipe, and of course, Cesar at Kaax. This year we enjoyed the attention of Victor around the pool each day. After the first day, he knew our favorite drink and was so great about arranging the umbrellas just right. We treated ourselves to spa treatments and want to recommend Francisco and Teresa for massages. I was so thrilled to see 'gluten free' notations on the menus! It is a real treat for someone with Celiac Disease to see that the restaurants really understand this issue. Food favorites this year: the lamb chops and duck at La Canoa, the goat cheese ice cream watermelon app, curried shrimp for lunch at Kaax, amazing grilled fish, chicken, and veggies at El Ch, and the sushi and ceviche at Sikil . One last comment: the resort was full when we where there (weddings, etc... ), but you would never guess! The service is that good!

We stayed here at the end of April for 8 days and overall we had a wonderful honeymoon at Zoetry, however there were a few things which have led me to score this four stars instead of five.
- We didn't receive the private transfer on either trip to and from the airport even though I emailed prior to our stay with all our flight information and spoke to reception on check-in confirming our return trip. It was a shame to have no one meet us at the airport and to have to share both journeys with other couples.
-The housekeeping varied and although the cleaning & bed making was excellent we never once received the 3-times daily service they promise. During the first couple of days they came once in the morning and then for the second part of our holiday they started to come in the evening for the turndown service. Often our mini bar was not re-stocked daily let alone twice daily as the endless privilege states.
-Service around the pool side was hit and miss and it became very clear it depended on how much you tipped. We were often ignored for the high tippers and regulars – service on the beach was much better and we spent more time there.
-The endless privilege of no check in or check out time wasn't true. We had to check out of our room at 12pm but we weren’t leaving the resort until 5pm.

Apart from the small issues above, we had a wonderful stay. The hotel is beautiful and maintained to a very high standard. Our room (Phom Pen) was on the 3rd floor in the end block and the ocean views were beautiful. I loved the huge bed and the comfy sun loungers on the terrace. It was so peaceful and we didn’t once hear our neighbours in the surrounding suites.
We enjoyed spending our time on the beach, beautiful white sand and the sea was very warm. There is sea grass in the water but it didn’t put us off swimming in the sea. I loved how quiet the beach was, no loud music and not crowded at all! The waiter service here was so much better than at the pool, we never felt ignored and they could not have done more for us.

The food was great, lots of choice and as much as you want, if you didn’t fancy anything on the menu you could ask for something else and if you wanted more they would bring more. Kaxx was our favourite restaurant to have dinner in however we avoided it at lunch times as the service was so slow.

The bar staff were great and the extensive cocktail list was brilliant, I quite happily worked my way through this during our stay!

We booked onto the sunset sail as soon as we checked in and I would recommend doing this, the crew were fabulous and keep your glass topped up with bubbles! We used the spa a couple of times, the plunge pool and salt water pool were lovely and very refreshing but we didn’t have any treatments as they were so expensive.

Overall I give Zoetry 4/5, we had a wonderful, peaceful, relaxing holiday and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to family and friends.

Room Tip: Phom Pen was on the 3rd floor, beautiful ocean views and completely private. Spoke to a few people w...

Overall the hotel is above average, but with the prices that the hotel charges I would say that this hotel is not worth the money.

The positives, and there are lots of them:

The hotel rooms are spacious and very well maintained. The housekeeping is perfect and excellent and three times a day. The rooms are kept very clean and the decor is a great balance between rustic (e.g., upscale Mexican feel) and modern (e.g., Air conditioning, TV). The rooms service is top notch. Food was delivered promptly and everything that we ordered was delivered. The room service kid even went back to get us an extra bottle of bubbles and extra desserts. The rooms are located away from the central part of the hotel so the noise is minimum. You can choose to walk to and fro the room to the restaurants or you can call for a pick via a golf cart. We enjoyed the long walks after dinner. The beach is kept clean free from garbage. The beach area around the hotel ok for just swimming around, due to the sea grass on the bottom of the ocean, but the area is great for snorkeling. The service at all the restaurants is top notch. The restaurant staff is very friendly, well trained, and very accommodating to any food request (gluten free, vegetarian, healthy options), and wine selection. The drinks the bartender make is excellent, They use top quality liquor. The bird room is the best. There are lots of types of birds throughout the hotel. Which is very nice. The tea time in the Bird's area at 5PM is great. Tea plus sweets is perfect.

The negatives:

For the amount of money it costs to stay here is not worth it. Plain and simple. The reason most of us stay at a small hotel is to get attentive services. But this hotel is part of a huge hotel chain, which defeats the purpose of staying at a small hotel. Some of the guest paid anywhere from $500-900/night. For this price I would expect to be treated like royalty which is not the case. And while the beach area is great it takes anywhere from 30-40 min to get a waiter. And after you give the waiter your order it takes another 30 min to get your food/drinks. One of the waiters on the beach was very rude and unhelpful to set up the beach beds. And even though I tipped them $5 dollars and told them to come back often they were no were to be found. The pool area service is a little better but not by much. Slow service at the pool and beach is unacceptable when your paying 500 to 900/night. The food on the menu tastes great but its a little outdated and needs some updating. While the service at the restaurant was solid the food was hit or miss. The menu is too "American" for me. I know this was Cancun but we still expected Mexican dishes. The library is very outdated with huge leather couches when there should be small sitting areas for couples/people to interact. The couches should resemble a light linen open feel to them. It is truly a waste of space. The spa area is great but the cost of the spa services is too pricey. Most of the 1hr treatments are over $150. The $200 dollars towards spa services is also disappointing. You can only apply approx. $40 towards a $200 spa treatment. Which means you ending paying $160 for the treatment. Plus in order to get the vouchers you have to sit through a two hour sells pitch on becoming some type of member. Also, I tried to eat dinner at one of the other sister resorts and you have to pay for your own transportation to the other hotel. Which I was told by the front desk folk would cost $90 for a 20 minute round trip cab ride!!! I don't even pay that much in NYC!!!

There are some great things about the hotel but also some downfalls as well. For what you get this hotel should cost around $$300/night and not close to $900/night. Overall, it was above average.

Room Tip: The rooms are not numbered. The rooms instead have names of cites, e.g. Cairo, Mumbai. The views are...

Dear jesse40,

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed overview of your stay through this mean. Our guest’s feedback is truly appreciated in our constant commitment to improve our service levels.

I would like to say that this is a boutique resort with a concept. Which is wellness in Mexico. As you experienced, our decoration is surrounded by art from all over the world in a like a Mexican little town. Basically, if you do not enjoy wellness and that sense of magic, you will not like our Resort.

For the amount you paid, you may enjoy all Endless Privileges® which includes many thing, among those are the access to our Thalasso Spa facilities. If you used the Thalasso salt water pool, temazcal, sauna, steam room, hot water Jacuzzi, cold water Jacuzzi…You should know that you basically do not need anything more for the amount you are paying.

We cordially invite all to look at our description on TripAdvisor or contact info.zopdb@zoetryresorts.com for any doubt towards our wonderful resort.

From the moment that we were picked up from the airport in our private transfer, provided with a bottle of champagne and given a video to watch on the largest vehicle screen i've ever seen I knew we were in for something special and that the hype was true. Zoetry provides a vacation experience that no other resort I've been to can match.

The Resort
The resort is beautiful and well maintained. A sense of calm washes over you the moment you see it. The staff really takes pride in maintaining the property. The pool was pristine every day. The common areas were well decorated and beautiful to look at.

The Rooms
No where else will provide EVERY guest with an ocean front room. The design of the hotel is so smart. If your room is in one of the farther blocks you have a choice to either walk the beach to get to the pool or restaurants or take a very well maintained, beautifully lit, tiled path. Every room was large, comfortable and equipped with every convenience you could desire - flat screen tvs, dvd players, large bathrooms, sunken tubs, large and beautiful beds and beautiful balconies overlooking the beach.

The Food
This is where Zoetry really differentiates itself from other all inclusive resorts (that i've been to). There are no reservations, no weird reservation policies, no buffets, no paper arm bands. You can eat where you want, when you want with no fuss or rules (with the exception of a dress code for the one dinner restaurant). We loved every single restaurant and ate at all of them several times during our stay. This is quality food that is comparable to any good quality, stand alone restaurant you would choose. The grill was a personal favorite and I loved the grilled meats, fish and veggies. Service by the pool is 5 star. The real standout, however, is breakfast. We enjoyed the harpist every morning and the specialty pastries. The staff is so knowledgable about the Mexican specialties as well as the traditional meals. We tried just about every breakfast option there was and weren't disappointed with any of them. It was a wonderful way to start our day.

The Pool and Beach
The pool was comfortable, relaxing, beautiful and maintained to perfection. We loved that there were sunken areas that were the depth of traditional pools and also shallow, raised areas where you sit or lay and read without being submerged. The beach was amazing. It's so beautiful to look at or walk on. We did not spend much time lounging at the beach (only bc the pool was so amazing) but everytime we swam in the ocean or took a walk you could tell how well the staff was caring for the guests. The ocean water is beautiful, warm and very calm but does have sea grass on the ocean floor (a sign of the health of the water). Some of it will break off at times and float but it is no worry and isn't in abundance like it is in the DR.

The Service
There aren't enough words to express our gratitude to the staff at Zoetry. We felt truly cared for by amazing professionals. You really feel that the staff has a personal stake in your vacation. You never feel like they are only being nice because it is their job. The staff has more class and professionalism than anywhere else I've stayed. The staff that maintains the grounds and the rooms always greeted you. The people that work in the restaurants go out of their way to serve you, greet you, and make your experience wonderful. The pool service is amazing. All the men were great but we really appreciated Antonio's help and service. He was so personal and wonderful that we were sad to say goodbye to him. Aside from the actual people working at the resort, there is one other point that is different from other resorts - the daily newsletter. I loved the newsletter left in your room at turndown service. It highlights what restaurants are open the following day, what activities are going on, and what the drinks of the day were - one organic iced tea with medicinal benefits and one alcoholic specialty. It's touches like these that let you know you are staying somewhere special.

Activities
We only took part in the catamaran sunset cruise but there were plenty of other activies for those wishing to try them.

Spa
We enjoyed the services of the Thalasso spa including all the hydrotherapy treatments. The saltwater pool located at the spa was so serene and wonderful.

Final Thoughts
This is a vacation for anyone that wants a relaxing, special and quiet vacation. They did have live music two of the nights we were there but it is in the same spirit as the rest of the resort - quiet, relaxing and part of the experience rather than for purposes of a party atmosphere. There were a few guests during our weeklong stay that clearly didn't know that this resort was quiet and not like other chains like Sandals, Beaches, RIU, etc. My recommendation is to do your research. If you want a personalized vacation where your every need is met in a quiet, relaxing and serene environment than Zoetry is for you. If you want to participate in group events, be somewhere with a lively bar scene than keep looking and you will find somewhere that suits those needs.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms appear to have the best views of the beach but all rooms are ocean front.

As usual, I intended to write a detailed review, however, due to a family emergency, that will not be possible. I am therefore merely pasting the "survey" I filled out for my travel agent. I hope you find it helpful. Feel free to message me with questions.

Hotel Name – Zoetry Paraiso

Date – 4/28/14 ~ 5/5/14

Time and cost from airport – No charge – about 15 min
Time and cost from town – Taxi to Puerto Morelos from Zoetry $25US one way 15 min

Room Amenities
Room Type – One Bedroom Oceanfront request either 2 doubles or 1 king in advance. All suites have names, not numbers. We were in Harare. There are a couple of 2 bedroom suites (extra $) unless booked as a 4+ party. All rooms oceanfront, but poor views on some 1st floors due to terrain and shrubbery. Rooms are about 1130 square feet. Living room, bedroom, huge bath, shower. Double sinks. 2 TVS No clock. Lots of electrical outlets. FREE laundry service returned next day. Bathrobes and slippers. Lots of hangers. Bvgari shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shower cap & sewing kit. Magnifying makeup mirror. Huge sunken tub. Very comfortable bed (some complain too hard) and super soft sheets. Pillow menu available. Some people also complain bed is too high off floor. Patio doors in bedroom facing ocean also with a SMALL balcony. You can see ocean while lying in bed.
Patio/Lanai description- Huge. Some rooms have hammocks with chaise lounge, others big bed. Both with table & chairs We prefer big bed. Some buildings are 2 story, others 3. First floors have plunge pools (extra $) all shaded by room above – which is good only if it rains. 2nd story in 3 story buildings also shaded by balcony above. DVD player in living room. NO check in or check out time!

Coffee Maker – Yes 4 different varieties like espresso, cappuccino in those little cups like a Kruig
Hair Dryer – yes, tucked away in closet not attached to wall
Fridge – yes but it doesn’t make things very cold. It’s more of a box with a radiating cold bar. Leave cabinet door open for better circulation
In room Liquor – Nice bottle of aged (not clear) complimentary ("Traditional" by JC)Tequila. Mini airplane bottles of Kaluha, Bicardi,Smirnoff, Jack Daniels which are not replenished.
Laptop Size Safe?/ Cost – Large. Fit a 14” laptop and other misc. No charge. You set your own code.

Resort Amenities
Internet / Cost – No charge in room. Also public computer available in Library bar. FREE unlimited calls to US as well. Wifi sometimes weak.
Beach description – Nice white sand. Daily sea grass raked frequently. Hard enough to run on close to the water. All chairs, bed cabanas have mattresses. Umbrellas available anywhere upon request. Some palm trees. Frequent visits from beach waiters. Lifeguard on duty. He swims entire length of resort both ways to determine swimming conditions – red, yellow or green flag.
Pools description- Small, irregular shape. Easy access. Plenty of chairs ALL with mattress covers. Bar is NOT swim up, but easy to walk to thru shallow water bridge. Plenty of waiters. Easy access to get drinks yourself. Some beds too.
Spa – Did not use, but appeared to have all the typical spa treatments. Private salt water pool, showers, lockers. Spa treatments may vary due to visiting professionals (I think). Some exotic treatments for “wellness”. VERY expensive.
Activities – Cooking class, cigar rolling, painting ceramics, tequila tasting, wine tasting, cocktail making, boat trip to town, catamaran sunset sail ( 1 hour), photography, yoga. Not sure about water sports. I did see people going out to the reef via boat for snorkeling (daily). Complimentary. Also saw ocean kayaking. Sign up in advance for most everything. Extensive daily activity and resort ‘news and happenings’, restaurant hours, etc. placed in your room by housekeeping. Usually with the turndown service so you know what’s going on the next day. Lighted tennis courts.
Golf – 2 putting greens on site. Free round of golf off site daily but cart and taxi costs $$$
Entertainment – Random low key type stuff. One evening there was a flamenco guitar player. Not sure about other stuff.
Sport’s Bar – Not really a sports bar, but Library bar has a big TV. Top shelf liquor. The REALLY high top shelf liquor and wines cost extra $. Bottles for purchase are about 5-6X what you’d pay at a wine store here.
Restaurants review – 3 – 2 resort casual, 1 more formal with strict dress code. Long pants, closed toe shoes for men. No flip flops for women. Kaax open for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Indoor and outdoor seating. Sushi bar open for lunch too. Wood grill open for lunch and dinner. Outdoor seating only which can get a little breezy. Formal restaurant only open for dinner. Indoor seating. All food is OUTSTANDING. Daily wellness menus accompany regular menu. All menus indicate calorie count, fat, carb and protein counts as well as gluten free and vegetarian symbols. Custom orders are no problem anytime anywhere. Tea time at 5pm daily with specialty teas and little sweets. Fresh greens, herbs and some veggies grown on site. Many gluten free/or low calorie, or vegetarian options.
Restaurants Reservation Process – No reservations anywhere. Never had to wait. Just walk in. Lunch service at Kaax is painfully slow. Just get room, beach or pool service or go to the grill. Room service is very quick for anything from ice to full meals. They will pack a “to go” lunch for your trip back to the airport, just ask.
Restaurants Dress Codes – Resort casual for breakfast and lunch. No beachwear. See above.
Staff – Everyone OUTSTANDING although Walter, the resort manager, seems to always be inaccessible, even though he’s “around”. I frequently saw him on property, but didn’t know it was him until the last day. Every time I wanted to speak to him, he was “unavailable”. No offers to have him contact me either. He was the only person that never made eye contact or said Hola. I thought he was security. Entire staff demeanor changed when owner was on site (twice). They went so overboard in looking busy they were stumbling over each other. 24hr concierge.
Cleanliness of Resort – OUTSTANDING.
Overall evaluation of property – OUTSTANDING . Iguanas are all over. Sort of a bird sanctuary for injured wildlife. Macaws, peacocks, cockatiels. Peacocks are VERY LOUD and seem to live on the north end of the resort so that could be bothersome to some people. Understated Mayan architecture décor.
What inside information would you give to the next person going to this resort? Let beach or pool guy know your preferred spot so he can set it up for you daily. Place a small note with your name and suite name on table/chair so staff and guests know it’s “reserved” when you’re not there. Pepe is the BEST.
Off Resort Excursions – Included boat trip to Puerto Morelos. 45 min ea way. About 1.5 hours in town. Not worth sacrificing beach/pool time in my opinion. 1 hour sunset catamaran cruise also included. Advance reservations required.

Room Tip: Rooms midway north & further from main area are a tad quieter and have a more secluded beach are...

This Hotel is in a beautiful setting. It is nice and small boutique hotel with some extraordinary staff. Everything was perfect except the main restaurant. The staff there were very poorly trained. The service was super slow. The food was OK but we ate a number of times in the sister Hotel Secrets which was fantastic. It only takes a few minutes by taxi to get there. The Diving was my favourite part of the holiday. Bob the Diving Instructor was really good and made sure I did some fantastic diving. It felt very personal as it is a small outfit. I went to the Cenotes and also had a magic day out to Cozumel Diving.

My husband and I stayed at the Zoetry in Riviera Maya the week after our April 26th wedding and had a wonderful time. The hotel and service was fantastic.

Our trip started off on the right foot with a private transfer and champagne on the short drive.

We upgraded our room and were so thankful we did when we saw our suite. We were in Tanzania, the suite farthest from the main building. Our suite was on the main floor with a private plunge pool and very large terrace with a lounger we napped on daily. It had spectacular views and beach access just steps away. The suite itself was very well appointed and we loved the large shower and soaking tub. The best part was that we never heard any neighbors and felt completely private.

The hotel itself is immaculately maintianed and earned it's 5 diamond rating (I've stayed at Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, etc). The pool is lovely and the beach isn't crowded at all. We did wish the pool side service was a little faster at times. However, we enjoyed all the staff including Victor, Raul and Eric. The Zoetry has a perfect spot close to Cancun, but a good distance from other resorts (one side is a national park), so it's very private.

Dining was really great too. The menus changed often so we never tired of the food during our 8 day stay. We really enjoyed the high-end restaurant on property (don't forget long pants and closed toed shoes!). Room service always came very fast as well. We loved the health-centered approach and appreciated their flexibility to meet our diet requests.

We visited the spa and had a great couples massage. Don't miss the hydro therapy and the salt water pool while you are there!

The Zoetry was absolutely perfect for a romantic getaway, we never wanted to leave. I would not recomend for children or as a "party spot". It's a perfect place to getaway to relax and rejuvinate.

Room Tip: Tanzania is the most private with a plunge pool (a nice walk from main area). We loved it - beware t...
