Big Sur is a special location and this site puts you right in the middle of this beautiful area of coast, and is close enough to a couple of shops and bars for guests to be able to walk to them.
The site is extremely well run, very clean and cleverly organised. Staff put themselves out to be helpful, and to make sure the place stays as nice looking as it is when you arrive. They also ensure the quiet hours are adhered to.
We stayed in cabin C, a large A frame, which was in one of the quietest spots on the site. It's a great cabin with an outdoor fire pit, tables and chairs for cooking, that give you some of the feel of camping but all the home comforts of proper beds, a small kitchen, electricity and a very decent sized bathroom with shower. Our children loved the sleeping platforms and riding inflatables through the site on the river.
It is perhaps quite expensive for a simple cabin - but the price is very much in line with other Big Sur accommodation so we did not feel over-charged - guests should keep in mind that they need to expect to spend quite a bit for meals and accommodation in this part of California.More
