This campground is amazing. Right on the river, site #7 is my favorite. All the staff are very friendly. There is a basketball court with balls, a great playground, clean showers and free coffee (bring a cup!). They have tube rentals for the river. They have a soft-serve machine that my kids love. the sites each have a fire ring and a table. I LOVE this place. Very nice family atmosphere, more family oriented then some of the other Big Sur campgrounds. Safe and fun. Enjoy! No cell service, which was fine with me!

Room Tip: Sites by the river are more fun, especially with children above the age of 5 or so. #7 is right by a...

Really relaxed, in the middle of the redwoods. Nice and quiet (10pm to 8am) and very well serviced. Talk to Wade if you want tips on motorcycle routes. No wi-fi and no cellphone reception, and you might find that quite relaxing.

this was super fun camping for my kids and myself. we stayed only one night and most here are long-time repeat customers who stay much longer.
there are clean, warm showers!!
laundry!!
excellent playground for the kids- mine loved it and met new friends.
super nice management.
adorable camp store will loads of items that you may have forgotten.
fun tubing in the river...be careful for time of year as the water will run less and less as summer goes on.
we luckily were able to have a campsite near the playground for my kids. it was perfect!

This is a very nice campsite in Big Sur - good location near restaurants and walking trails, clean showers and helpful staff. However I think $30 a night is expensive for a two man tent - although Big Sur in general is an expensive place.

This place is truly nice. It has campsites, cabins and RV sites. The river runs just nearby and some cabins and campsites are actually on the river. We stayed in a one bedroom cabin which was clean, warm and cozy. We had a fire each night outside and enjoyed our time. There are basketball courts, laundry facilities, showers, and even innertubes that you can rent. I highly recommend, but do want to mention it is not inexpensive. We would definitely go back!! Staff was extremely helpful and we met many volunteers as well working there.

Room Tip: All cabins and campsites are great, but some are specifically by the river if you want that experien...

We stayed at Big Sur Campground And Cabins in May of 2013 for 28 days, and thoroughly enjoyed every moment there. If you are looking for 5 star hotel treatment, with 24 hour room service, then this place is possibly not for you. Equally, if you fancy a rugged, Robinson Crusoe type experience, with jungle type isolation, you are going to be disappointed.

Luckily, none of the above apply to myself or my family. We travelled to Big Sur to escape the hustle of the city, and to relax in a wonderful setting, surrounded by nature. For most of our stay we had an A-frame cabin, and the experience was truly wonderful. The cabins are a bit more expensive, they are fully self sufficient with wood burning stoves that really add to that home from home experience.

Towards the end of our stay we moved to a tent cabin beside the river. This side of the property is where the livelier folk like to stay, and it was a bit noisier, but provided for a completely different, and pretty fun experience. We got to meet some pretty cool families and sharing barbecues and camp fires with different groups really gave the place s a sense of community.

The management are pretty strict when it comes to quiet time, which was perfect for us as we really enjoyed the feeling of being surrounded by nature as we slept. This may not be for some people, and if your planning on drinking or partying through the night this might not be the spot for you. But, if like us, you travelled to Big Sur to escape the noise of everyday life, then this is your place.

My advice is to consider exactly what you want from your trip to Big Sur and choose your accommodation accordingly. We did and we definitely will be back again!

Just got back from camping at this beautiful, cozy spot. They have big lots with tons of gorgeous Sequoia trees. There's a river that runs right in the campgrounds, so grab one of their innertubes and just be lazy. The kids will love a huge jungle gym that's sure to please. Forgot something; pancake mix, smores, firewood, ice, condements, etc, etc? No worries! They have right on site at their store. Complementary coffee in the morning with fresh baked cookies all day long. And their staff is WONDERFUL! Super friendly and hospitable. They made it easy to ask questions and helped in a pinch (our truck battery died!). We'll be back!! : )

Room Tip: Be sure to book in advance so you're not next to the lavatory dump!
