We camped at a site overlooking the oceans and woke in the morning to barking sea lions and birds! Breathtaking views, lush, gorgeous gardens, and very friendly staff. Relaxed in the evening in front of the fire in the lodge. We also appreciated that this is a quiet getaway and not for the partying crowd. Could relax and sleep in the evening only hearing the waves of the oceans. The owners/staff have an eye for detail and make everything easy and hospitable.

Dear Sharon,
Thank you for camping with us.
So glad that you appreciate this as a quiet getaway, (not for partying crowds).

We work diligently to communicate this venue correctly to those considering a stay with us...

we limit our occupancy to two guests per unit ( and no groups). we have even, from time to time, asked 'noisy or inconsiderate guests' to leave early when they have disturbed the experience of others ...it means alot to us..

We too enjoy the serenity and peaceful natural beauty this land offers and desire all our guests to be soothed and uplifted by it.

Cheers and return as soon as you are able!

In early May, I took my parents for a one-week drive along highway 1 and chose to stay at Treebones Resort for two nights. It was so much better than we expected: the yurt is very comfortable, three of us share the largest yurt #13 with two beds. Fireplace and the sink inside this yurt were convenient. The view of the ocean from the deck is so amazing, especially sunset time. Birds are all around. Also enjoyed the sushi bar - so this is my luxury camping experience! Yurts by the ocean added great memories to our vacation.

Both of my sisters want to try this after seeing the pictures I've posted on social media. Remember that there is no cell phone towers there, but you can use the wi-fi in the lobby. Print out driving directions in advance (instead of counting on your iPhone) and also plan to travel to or from there during day time as driving back to LA takes 5 to 6 hours.

I first hear of this resort via a family member who stayed at the nest. It was mid April when I decided to look into it for a birthday trip with my best friend. Luckily the nest was available within 3 weeks, but only during the week. Weekends get booked months in advanced. Out stay there was short but memorable. We enjoyed the hospitality with the golf cart rides to unload our belongings. The only thing I was unsure, if a tip was expected. We spent some time in their pool, and loved every moment in the nest. Our ocean view was breathtaking. We kept seeing whales, which was a plus! Since Hwy 1 is closed right off the resort, not many cars passed by which made our night much better. Bathrooms/showers are a short walk, definitely doable. I cant wait to go back, and possibly stay at their twig hut. Thank you treebones!

Room Tip: The nest has the best ocean view!

Dear Gabriela,
Thank you for recent stay! Now you can say you 'nested in Big Sur!'...it is an amazing view from up there isn't it?

It would be helpful for curious readers to remember that both the Nest and the Twig Hut are essentially campsites - bring your own sleeping bags, extra blankets, tent ( you can set it up and sleep in there if it is too rainy, wet or cold to venture into the nest at night)
and all your camping gear.

It's glamping at a very rustic - but beautiful - level!

Be well, stay happy.

One night at Tree house is wonderful. With cozy bed and fireplace with a great romantic window view. Love to walk in neighbor hood to see the whole resort with our tandem bike.
Our anniversary night and trip made the a night and day trip

Thank you for your recent visit. You grabbed the Treehouse (famous because it was a collaborative effort with Pete Nelson. the Treehouse Master)
It's cozy, warm and secluded...you still walk to the restrooms from there...which, in the case of the Treehouse, is across a swinging bridge and up hill a few steps!

Be well ! and happy belated anniversary.

Amazing views and a great feeling of relaxation! Recommend sushi and chilling out with a beer on the sun deck where you can admire the view and also see loads of whales. Don’t take the road north when leaving!

Thank you for your recent visit and positive review.

For curious readers: Sushi seating is booked in advance since it is a limited tasting menu. (See website for more details) . The Lodge Restaurant features casual coastal cuisine and highlights organically grown produce from our on sight garden.

I am not sure what this guest means by "dont take the road north when leaving" ? .....Highway 1 heading north of us is currently clear, open and passable and leads you to Monterey, Carmel and onward to San Francisco.

Cheers.
