Fantastic starters, excellent main courses and deserts to die for made this Sunday lunch one of our best ever. Although it wasn't cheap!

“A great little find!”
Reviewed 23 August 2014 via mobile

We met family in Ross on Wye this week and not knowing the area had planned to eat at the beefeater, fortunately for us the beefeater was full and we saw a sign for the moody cow, we phoned and they managed to fit our table of nine in at very short notice (it was early evening on a Wednesday).

The landlord and lady were very friendly and everyone enjoyed their very large meals!

I think we all wished we lived closer so that we could visit more often... The landlord even came out with us to say good bye.

Thank you for your lovely review. I am so pleased that we managed to fit you in and that you enjoyed our home made food.

Many of our guests comment that they wish they lived closer to the Moody Cow, I love sailing so perhaps we need to open a Moody Cow in Weymouth!

We look forward to welcoming you back when you are next visiting your family in Ross on Wye.

Kindest regards,

Chris

“Out of town gastro pub”
Reviewed 21 August 2014 via mobile

We visited on a Thursday evening & only just got a table, so wise to book ahead.
Very clean, sharp & modern pub (not cosy though) & efficient staff (maybe a bit too quick - we were in & out within one hour).
The quality of food was very good, especially the fish & chips (massive portion, got 2 pieces, so I'd ask before ordering if you want a smaller portion).
They had local wines from 200 yards away which we ordered & was quite pleasant.

Thank you for your kind review.

I do hope that you didn't feel rushed, we try to ensure that our service is efficient and unobtrusive and when our guests reserve a table we ensure that it is theirs for the evening, it would appear that as you hadn't booked we may have "squeezed you in" under these circumstances it is very important that the table is prepared for the guests that made a booking and we always let you know if that is the case when offering you a table.

After dining our sofas by the fireside are very popular for relaxing.

I do hope we will be able to welcome you back soon.

Kindest regards,

Chris

“Great food, friendly pub”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Have eaten here a few times and always very impressed. Good selection of dishes, very well cooked and presented. The landlord is always out in the restaurant and very welcoming. When there was a delay with a couple of our desserts he immediately found out what had gone wrong, sorted it out and knocked the desserts off the bill. Will definitely return when in the area.

Thank you for your fantastic review.

It is so reassuring when our guests return again and again, even more so when we make a mistake and are given the opportunity to fix it right there, right then.

We look forward to welcoming you back when you are next in the area.

Kindest regards,

Chris

“Great Saturday lunch”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

We had Saturday lunch here I ordered the fish and chips. They were delicious and my wife had the chicken pie which if anything was better. The service was very friendly and prompt. The pub is delightful and I would strongly recommend if in the area.
