We arrived in a camper and trailer and parked at the canal centre over the road and was waiting for 6 others so wandered over to Potters across the road . It had a HUGE empty car park . We were greeted by a huge room and football on and my 10 year old sat down to watch and it all went wrong. We were told to move into the restaurant and forced to watch a 12inch tv crammed in the corner ;-( i also noted it said you can stopover in the car park, and free if you are a patron, there was a sign saying such. I said there would be another 6 arriving and we would dine and drink there but were told we could only use car park while dining then have to pay or go!!! So we went elsewhere and gave them our £100odd. Pure Stupidity and Greed. Never again. I hope the boss reads this and sorts it out !!

This is basically a stinky old tired pub with tired rooms and a complete step back in time feel. The food is average and very overpriced for what it is, the beer is poorly kept, the clientelle is a mixture of local regular drinkers and people using the campsite nearby the canal. The place itself smells mouldy and unkept. fairly typical of other Bob Potter places which get little investment. The sign above the door must be 30-40 years old and is falling apart which gives you a flavour of what to expect. They make it clear they do not want anyone with dogs on the site - not even outside the pub. This is ridiculous when most campers have dogs and many people walk their dogs on the local army ranges - but no great surprise again at the lack of business sense. You cannot turn a corner without facing a no dogs allowed sign!!! Avoid this place and use any of the other local places such as the Swan or the Harvester both about 10 minutes walk away and also both benefiting from an excellent canal side location.

We stayed hear for two nights in August. When we were given the key, we were told that we were in the rooms above the pub. The first thing that sprung to mind was the possibility of noise. As so happened, this was not the case. We never heard a peep from anyone else once we were in our room. The view from the room was brilliant. We could look out over the canal and over the pub terrace which was well looked after. The rooms themselves where a great size and had all the amenities a normal person would need. The en suit was much bigger than we expected and looked stunning. The shower was very large and the whole room looked well designed and looked after. All the staff where friendly and even though we didn't have anything to eat whilst we stayed there, some of our friends said that they had eaten there several times at the food was really good.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms over the pub itself have a great view of the stunning canal.

I've only ever eaten here on business but I would absolutely recommend this to friends and family. The portions are generous and the breakfast good quality too. The staff are helpful with prompt service and the prices are reasonable for what you get.

Having visited on numerous occasions, the good experience is replicated every time which is why I recommended it whether for business or families. Lovely setting by the canal too.

Just the sort of place I'd be in all the time if I lived locally. Recommended.

My Daughter and I were going to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and as its a 6 hour drive down from Harrogate we decided to travel down the night before and stay locally to give us an early start the next morning. Due to the popularity of the event most of the Hotels near to Goodwood were booked up but we found that Mytchet was only 35 minutes away, allegedly. Due to the show traffic it took us 1 1/2 hours to get there, That being said the Potters Inn was a great place to spend a night. We had a twin room in the adjoining Motel style bungalows which was clean and roomy and also had air conditioning, which as the temperature was in the 30,s was very welcome.
The Hotel sits beside a Canal near to Mytchetts Marina so as we spent a pleasant afternoon and early evening sitting in the Hotels beer garden we were treated to a procession of various barges and boats going past and the antics of the local wildlife, including a drunken lout jumping into the canal. This was the only downside as the Management did not seem to want to put a stop to his drunken antics as he was part of a large party who , judging by the empties on their table had been drinking most of the day and obviously spending a lot of money. Fortunately they left within an hour of us arriving so we had a nice quiet evening, We had a snack from the extensive bar menu which was varied and reasonably priced but cannot comment on the quality of the main meals. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful and well presented so no complaints there. I would definitely stay here again and would have a meal next time.

Popped in here for a snack by the canal over the weekend. Opted for the Nachos to share, very good portion with lots of cheese and toppings. The staff were very good and the food was great. The location is fab and on a sunny day it is great to sit right next to the canal.

The only downside was they only take card payments for over £10 which I wish we had known before we ordered the drinks as we used our cash on them. TIP keep the card open :)
