“Winter in the Bothy”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

My mother told me that the Bothy meant the outside toilet but nothing could be further from the accommodation that the Bothy offers. I was stuck - I had sold my house and not yet bought another - Kathy could not have been more helpful! I arrived with two dogs (a relaxation of her normal rules!) and settled in for what turned out to be a very comfortable two weeks in early January 2013. I'm sure most people remember it for the bad weather - I do too - but I also remember it for cosy nights in and brisk early morning walks.

The Bothy has a single room upstairs with a double bed and ensuite shower, loo etc. Don't think that the facilities will be on the small and 'cosy' side - they are very comfortable and well appointed. Downstairs there is a good sized kitchen and good-sized separate sitting room space.

Everyone and everything (dogs, cats, chicken and ducks) were very welcoming and I could not have wished for a nicer temporary home. As somewhere to stay - either for a night or longer - it is a charming self-catering one bedroomed cottage - highly recommended.

Room Tip: I stayed in The Bothy - the self-catering cottage - but met others who stayed in the B & B and e...

Conveniently close to A14 trunk route, yet not so close that traffic noise was noticeable. On arrival (our first) the view of the farm as we turned onto the drive, house to the left, pond (one of three) to the right, was that of gorgeousness itself. Kathy welcomed us, made us a welcome cup of tea and showed us to our room. The house is characterful to say the least! Sitting, looking at the garden was so relaxing. Our room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was superb, fantastic eggs! This morning at the end of our three night stay we were saddened to leave Grange Farm.

It was so good to be back at Grange Farm for another lovely stay, in another of Kathy's beautiful rooms. The welcome is always warm, the breakfast delicious, and the farm is so beautiful, with high quality accommodation in a delightful setting. Looking forward to the next visit already! Thank you once again Kathy for a restful, home from home stay.

Lovely warm welcome at this quiet, comfortable, characterful farmhouse B&B. Kathy Parker was so friendly, and the location is delightful. A real home from home, with delicious breakfasts. Good local pubs nearby for evening meals, and easy access from the A14. I definitely recommend a stay here.

Delightful property, warm welcome, comfortable well furnished room, unobtrusive host, a free night cap, first class breakfast and very good value for money. Certainly deserves 5 stars. Dinner at the Brewers Arms in nearby Rattlesden (also Dog friendly) was very good.

It started with a warm welcome - pots of coffee, tea and toasted teacakes in the guest lounge. We walked in the evening to the local village - 2 pubs with real ale - and ate at the Swan inn

Followed by a quiet good night's sleep in lovely bedrooms.

Next morning we had an excellent breakfast, fresh fruit, cooked breakfast with local ingredients . In all we had a really good break in the Suffolk countryside complete with pond and ducklings.

Lovely grade II listed farmhouse with large well furnished room. Proprieter Kathy Parker very friendly. Rural aspect with pond and farm shop (not connected). Substantial breakfast with fruit, cereal and cooked to order using fresh local produce where possible. Very Quiet as a little way from the village. £70 per night for a twin or double room B&B. Well behaved dog is accepted.
