“probably the best hotel in the region”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

Had some meetings in the area so therefore I stayed in this hotel for two nights.

The hotel is rather old and it seems a bit outdated. That said I think this is the best alternative in the Hadeland region. The walls between the rooms must be very thin as I heard every detail in my neighbours phone conversation. My colleauge stayd in the room next to me on the other side and she complained over me taking a shower to early.

The gym is very litle and smells odd. The indoor pool look very nice. Did not try it though.

The first day we had a three course dinner at the hotel. It was a high standard with a good wine selection.

From the first telephonecall till we we left we felt welcome. We were really taken care of. The hotel offered great charm, nice employees, comfortable rooms and meeting rooms. The breakfast and lunch bufet were plentiful with several well tasting dishes. The dinner with four courses and selected wines were splendid.
The hotel garden was like a small park, buitiful constructed, with several benches and stools. The hotel is situated near by the medieval buildings; "the sister churches" and Granavollen, Gran county's "tusenårssted".

This hotel was buildt brick by brick, and today it's a modern familydriven hotel. The rooms are well equpped at various sizes (depends on what brick was laid). Especially the Tower with an artificial starry ceiling is a gem and a treat. Ask for it!
All over the standard is quite high, the welcoming atmosphere is followed up by staff, doing their best in giving a homely experience.
Food is excellent, based on Norwegian and local tradition. International cuisine with a homemade twist.
After dinner (usually a rich buffet) the hotel offers a variety of smaller, intimate lounges where you may sit more privately to have an "avec" with your coffee and freinds, .... or your loved one(s).....

Room Tip: Just ask for a good room..... If available you'll have the best....!

It seems like all the rooms are getting a makeover, but I was given a room that was probably from the early 90s. It was clean though. Breakfast and lunch was good. Dinner was mediocre. The sauces was too rich and heavy, it seemed to be the main component in every dish. There was also low standards in the dessert department. Panna Cotta without real vanilla, grainy cheesecake with mushy biscuitbottoms and so on.
The execution of the dishes was roadside-tavern like.
That said, this is normal standard of most norwegian conference-hotels....

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room!

This is a "personal" hotel situated in a green area about an hour from Oslo. You are met by a nice staff all the way. The relaxing rooms are in different styles from wooden cabin style to design rooms, -all with nice old and modern art. And ask for a three dishes dinner with wine. Then you will have an unforgettable experience! They are food artists with the knowlege to give you a gastronomic meal with the perfect match between food and wine.
As a break you may take a nice work in the forests, to the old and nice Sister Churches, take a swim in the hotel's in door pool, -or what about an aroma therapy massage?

Room Tip: Rooms in the old part are more cosy/cabin like. Some will call them clean, nice and shabby. The room...

My husband and I stayed here when attending a wedding in June 2011. The setting is beautiful. Lush green fields and forests, horses grazing and the beautiful, old churces ("Søsterkirkene") a couple of minutes walk away. The main sitting room was beautifully set with big windows and french doors to the garden. The interior of the hotel felt a little dated. A lot of 90s colour schemes (bright yellows, greens and pinks all around). The dining room/breakfast room was large, but felt a little cramped due to the low ceiling. The bedroom was ok, very small bathroom, but the shower was very nice. (It was a bit of a labyrinth finding the room, but the hotel reception explained that they had rooms closer to the exits more suitable when travelling with children.

The food was very good and the waiters were professional; efficient and organised. Breakfast was also good.
All in all: very professional staff, good food, nice location (one hour by car from Oslo, train station about ten minutes by car away), good for parties, tired looking interior that could do with a small make-over.
