We have been to this pub restaurant several times at lunchtime when there is a well-priced specials board but this was an evening visit. We chose starters and mains from the blackboard, had a drink at the bar and were shown to our table in the restaurant in about 20 minutes. You can also eat in the bar (sans tablecloth but the food is the same) which is relaxed and informal. The fish and shellfish is a highlight of the menu but there are several meat dishes including steak with proper chips. Choose from a mixture of more traditional and eclectic dishes. Much of the food is locally sourced. Service is friendly and efficient and there is a very good wine list. Quality is very consistent.

We heard about this restaurant from a friend. It transpired that the new owner osed to be the head chef at one of our previous favourite eateries and we always wandered where Paul the chef went! Well he is now here and the food is exceptional!!!the service matched the food with a warm welcome as soon as we arrived. It was a lovely cosy atmosphere with warm log fire and warm and up to date relaxing decor. We will be making this our new regular hidey hole to go and treat ourselves!

Well that would sum up the ambiance and the standard of cooking in this friendly restaurant !
One of the few eating places in this part of the world that I find myself returning to time again , on this occasion after a winter warmer at the bar where the ever changing menu is displayed on a large blackboard ( quite apt as this building was a former school house ) we were shown to our table in the restaurant by a new but efficient waitress who was most attentive throughout the meal.
Chosen starters selected from a " cant make up my mind they all look good " were a salt and pepper squid and a crab and avocado salad both were quite "yummy "( school speak !).
Main course was the- recommended by the management Turbot -which was served with pancetta on a bed of spinach with a cream sauce plus a fine bottle of chilled Muscadet ( priced extra ). Full marks !!!
If there is a "could do better " at this school house then it is with the puddings , Although I feel the presence of a good pudding chef here would take the BridgeWater into the Michelin class....

My wife and I eat here fairly regularly, sometimes accompanied by our friends who are prepared to travel 30+miles for the food, service and ambience. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Paul and his staff. The food cannot be faulted and the atmosphere is excellent. Whether you visit at lunchtime, early evening or later, the place exudes a friendly and warm welcome.
it is a little pricier than other places but the overall quality makes it well worthwhile. My only problem is that I like everything on the menu and do not have the capacity to eat it all!
