The train journey itself is lovely with different views up and down the valley. The staff were helpful and attentive. Please note though that there are very limited first class carriages so would suggest third class is perfectly adequate. The new train story centre is good but as with a lot of things if you have kids could turn into quite an expensive day

A journey back in time this attraction takes you back to days of steam travel a lovely trip along a scenic track in carriages over 100yrs old pulled by a loco from the same era at Haven street station there is plenty to see a cafe, model & gift shop,a carriage workshop & a new building housing some of the loco's with access to some & plenty of information. Whether a young child or a old one like me this attraction is good value we paid £15 this included all day travel on the Island Line & the steam railway (I think it's £10 if you just want the steam railway) a great day or just a few hours if you visit the I.O.W make time to see this. What an outstanding place. Brilliant new "Train Story" installation, blow the train's whistle, see the engines and carriages 'before and after' and then the real glory of the train journey WITH tunnel, steam, views.....and fabulous friendly staff.

What do you do when it's wet and you planned to go bowling but they cannot let you have a rink for 2 hours - that was our question, and it was VERY easily solved by going to the steam railway. We were lucky that it was a bank holiday so they were in Steam, but to be honest there was LOTS to look at. Loved the new exhibition area (and being under cover helped). With a 9 year old and an under 2, it can be hard to find things they like - this one fitted the bill. Love to go back and ride on a train, but just being on the station was great! Well done everyone.
