Reviewed 29 June 2014

We had a superb morning out at Steam Railway on 25th June. It was living history schools week & school children experiencing the WW2 evacuation! The whole site is beautifully set out and engines & carriages wonderfully restored....Well worth going first clas :) We will definitely take the grandchildren on their next visit.

“First Class Day”
Reviewed 28 June 2014 via mobile

Having been to many preserved railways over the years I thought I had a pretty good idea what I was going to see. However I was very pleasantly surprised by the way the Isle of Wight Steam Railway is run. Very professional operation. Staff are helpful and happy to advise. We went for the First Class Ticket and rode in a very well appointed carriage which gave us great views out over the Islands countryside. We had a nice simple lunch at the buffet. The Train Story at Havenstreet is still in its infancy but I'm sure in time will become a very informative part of the visit experience.

“Great whole day trip”
Reviewed 28 June 2014 via mobile

We started at wootton but you can get the old London tube train all the way from ryde! Main station in the middle has a museum and huge engine shed. Staff all very helpful and enthusiastic. Get an all day ticket and do one stop at a time.

“start/finish at Haven Street ”
Reviewed 27 June 2014 via mobile

We enjoyed 3 hours here both on the train to wooton and smallbrook then had a cream tea in the cafe, a woodland walk with strange wildlife .Our 2 year olds played in the park (sorry, rules said no under 6s but no chance of dragging them out) Cost was £12 to ride all day

“What a wonderful place”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

We visited The Isle of Wight Steam Railway on Saturday 21 June 2014 where we had booked a Midsummer's Night Steam & Carvery - we visited the railway first and was an absolute delight walking round the new exhibit. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. The Carvery dinner was superb, very well organised and the steam journey afterwards was amazing.
A must place to visit when on the island.
Even if there are no special events on it is well worth a visit.
