Great day out on a heritage railway, we upgraded to first class tickets and felt slightly miffed that tickets were not checked in the morning on boarding and all the 1st class were packed and the 2nd class empty?!? Glad to see that by the afternoon and vigilant ticket officer was checking passengers in first class carriages had paid their extra dues for the privilege - after all every penny counts when funding such wonderful heritage attractions! There was a falconry display which was very entertaining, and they hold various themed events through the year. The NEW museum is great for all weather information. Coffee shop sells lovely cream teas although they sold out of scones rather early so get in there pronto! Well stocked gift shop and ice cream parlour. Wonderful day out - must see !!!!

I visited with my wife who at present is confined to a wheelchair. The staff here were most helpful, and courteous enabling her to enjoy her day. The new Steam Story exhibition is really well worth a visit on its own. Again the staff could not have been more helpful and their knowledge of the railway and its exhibits first rate. Access is via the shop and the carriage works, where the highest standards of workmanship can be seen.

We travelled 1st Class - carpets on the floor and comfy seats and chuffed up and back for about an hour, and it was just great. There wasn't much to see at each end of the short line, but Havenstreet (which is really the start) was very interesting. The museum was very good - according to my husband. Being able to read up on restoration projects was very interesting.

We had a superb morning out at Steam Railway on 25th June. It was living history schools week & school children experiencing the WW2 evacuation! The whole site is beautifully set out and engines & carriages wonderfully restored....Well worth going first clas :) We will definitely take the grandchildren on their next visit.
