What a fantastic resort. Stylish 5 star facility right on an unspoiled stretch of beach. Luxury and fantastic views of the the warm Indian Ocean. Water crystal clear with very good waves. Great fishing around the point. You get allocated a butler when you arrive and he is at your beck and call.
Great food and good service. Great location for a very relaxing holiday. Great fishing and diving spots just of the coast with some of the nicest reefs in the world to explore. Visibility is great most of the time. Close enough to ponto du oro . Must have 4x4 vehicle to get in via Kosi bay.4.5 hr drive from durban.

Room Tip: All rooms are great.

We spent 3 days and 2 nights at this beautiful hotel, relaxing after having been at multiple safari camps. We drove to the Mozambique border from Kosi Bay, where we parked our car in a parking lot about 100 meters from the border, and waited for the car from White Pearl to arrive and pick us up. It arrived on schedule, and we then spent over half an hour going through the visa process for Mozambique. Once this hassle was finished, we started on our 1 hour ride to White Pearl.

You need to have them drive you because 1) you need a four wheel drive car to negotiate the sandy road, and 2) you need to know which road to take at the multiple unmarked junctions you go through. The trip is bumpy, and they joke that you are getting a free massage. But the car is comfortable, so it's not as bad as it sounds.

They do have helicopter service from Maputo, if you are already in Mozambique.

Once you arrive, you realize how isolated this place is. There is nothing to be seen next to the beach except this resort, for as far as you can see in either direction. The suites are huge, with a big deck, and a small swimming pool (larger than a plunge pool) for every unit. The bottles of liquor in the room were pint bottles.

The room only has an outdoor shower, which is covered (currently) by 3 pieces of fabric. They say they are converting this to a wood roof, to give more privacy, as anyone in rooms or walkways further up the hill can sometimes see in. Please note that this hotel seems to be more for couples, than families, because of this outside shower.

Our room was very private, and we could go nude in our swimming pool. You could also wander far enough down the beach to go nude there, too, if you wanted. Our room was room 4, which was one of 6 that are close to the beach, and we had a private pathway down to the beach. This was convenient, because the only other access to the beach was the stairs way down at the end of the resort near the beach bar.

We spent most of our time in our room, having lunch (and even breakfast) brought to us by our butler. There is a white rope you put across your entrance path when you don't want to be disturbed, so no one even gets as far as your door before seeing you don't want to be disturbed.

We didn't see any wildlife, except for crabs on the beach, but we didn't spend a lot of time looking for wildlife, either. There were many crabs, as there were no seagulls there, but the crabs weren't there all the time.

We enjoyed our dinners there, and we especially liked the group of dancers that performed in the boma one night. This was mainly a group of kids, with an adult leader, and 3 drummers, who did quite a variety of complicated dances near the blazing fire.

This resort doesn't have a lot of entertainment, so be prepared to entertain yourselves, or like us, just enjoy relaxing. The weather was great, and looking at all the gentle waves rolling in from the Indian Ocean was entertaining for us.

We would gladly go here again, to enjoy the privacy and luxury.

Room Tip: Beachfront rooms were great, with 4, 5, and 6 having the most privacy. Avoid room 1, as everybody going by to the restaurant can see into your deck area.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to review our Resort and for sharing your experience.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our Resort.

Please note that we no longer offer a helicopter transfer service from Maputo to the Resort. White Pearl Resorts now offers a sky transfer service with a fixed-wing plane from Maputo International Airport to Ponto do Ouro. From here, you can see the local villages and experience the thrill of adventure on a 4x4 trip across the scenic route to White Pearl Resorts.

Regarding the privacy concern of the outdoor shower, we can assure you that improvements are being made on all suites.

We hope to welcome you back to the Resort soon!

Regards

The White Pearl Team

A stunning hotel in every way, could not fault anything. The service beyond the call of duty.
The extras are a little excessive, but since all is just so amazing you tend to forget the price.
Congratulations to the team and owner.

We just spent the weekend at the White Pearl Resort and absolutely loved it. It's in a very secluded location - and be warned if you drive up there are no roads after the Mozam border just dust paths so quite an experience.

The resort itself is stunning! It's really amazing how they have managed to create an oasis of calm and luxury away from it all.

The rooms are very big - we had a room with beach access so you can walk out your room and onto the secluded beach. There are plunge pools in each room and outdoor showers. It's a very romantic location.

The service was fantastic with everyone willing to go the extra mile. We had a great private butler who would run at our every request.

There isn't much around the resort though and if plan your trip you will very much stay at the resort / take beach walks / sit by the pool and maybe go out scuba diving or swimming with dolphins.

There are no real other restaurants / towns near by.

I would highly recommend this as a vacation to get away from it all.

The hotel has wifi and dstv.... And if you can afford it I would recommend the helicopter transfer option.

We stayed here for 6 nights as part of our honeymoon in November 2012. We arrived by helicopter - this is a must do! It's an incredible experience and worth every penny.

The staff were wonderful and the food is divine! The chefs got it right every time. The breakfasts are huge! Can highly recommend requesting a private breakfast at your room.

We thoroughly enjoyed the peri peri chicken with a glass of chilled white wine by the pool bar for lunchtime. We were chuffed to see whales and a turtle laying her eggs. It was the perfect place to just chill out.

The resort is EXACTLY like the photos on here. Everything has been set up with so much thought and class. The rooms are so wonderfully private and with the most amazing views. Loved the outdoor shower. And our own little private pool. Yummy biscuits were left in the room. So even if it was a little chilly, we could sit on our sofa watching the sea / waves with a warm cuppa and biscuit.

Can highly commend:

Joel - he works behind the bar. What a great chap. Many conversations. And lots of time for us.

Lorenzo - he took us on our walk to see the turtles and on the dolphin boat trip, another great guy - lots of time to chat to us, tell us about the area, sea and history

Drew - dont miss out on his evening talks! We were the only couple there on the first night and the second talk, we were only 2 couples. They were great, lots of local information.

The ONLY let down for us was the check out process. I know no one enjoys leaving their little bit of paradise. But it almost felt like a kick out.

There was a note left in our room saying that we could stay in there until our departure - which was early afternoon. We had planned to have some breakfast and go for our last snorkel, shower and catch the helicopter. We were told at 9pm as we sat down for supper on our last night that we had to pack our bags for the helicopter to take to the airport at 6am in the morning. We explained to them our plans and had come to a comprise that we would leave our suitcases outside for them to be picked up before 6am and we would keep some of our clothes behind so we can go for our swim and shower.

At our breakfast we were told that we need to be out of our room as soon as possible (even move us to another room for a few hours) as the couple who were coming into our place had arrived early.....

We stuck to ur guns, how can we be kicked out? We stayed at our room, went for snorkel and had a shower, when I walked into our room, the ladies were already changing the bedding. Really felt like it was a thanks for coming now get out. Really gutted.

This resort would have received 10 out of 10, if it wasn't for checking out process being so poor.

Just a little note, it may have been nice to have a card or small gift (wine or bubbly) as a treat for honeymooners, just to make it all super special?
