“great little pub with a jolly landlord”

We visited the chequers last week and had a great meal with friends. The bar and restaurant areas were both very busy with diners. There was a blazing log fire in the pub which made the whole place feel very cosy.
Our waiter was a very jolly fellow, who i believe is the landlord. He quickley took orders and it was not long before he returned to make sure we were all ok. We all chose to have a starter and mains. I went for the scallops which were great except for a small piece of grit in one. For the main course i went for the calves liver cooked medium, fantastic.
The evening at the Chequers was overall a great experience and the landlord ( a very jolly chap ) made us all feel very wellcome.
