We had an excellent meal at the Chequers. On past experience January on a wet evening is not a good time to visit a country Restaurant. From the moment we arrived we made to feel welcome and valued. If you like fish this is certainly the place to visit. The choice of fresh fish was good. My husband had the fish soup to start with and said it was the best fish soup he had in the Uk for years.
I had the Turbot for a main course ,which was cooked to perfection. We chose to eat in the restaurant, which was cosy and even though it was empty the atmosphere with soft music playing was appealing. We liked the ambience, something different from a gastro pub!. The cost of the meal was not inexpensive, but we thought the quality of the food was worth the extra cost. We would certainly return .
