My husband and I recently stayed in a motel room/cabin at Lync-haven and received the best service. After our first night, the bed was really uncomfortable; we were basically sleeping on springs and the owner, Jodie changed out our mattress to a newer, more comfortable one immediately. We slept really well the remainder of our stay. They are currently in the process of replacing all their mattresses.
The cabins are modest but clean, comfortable, and cozy and include a fridge, toaster, and electric kettle. Since there wasn't an actual kitchenette, we brought our electric skillet and plates, bowls, and cutlery and were able to make most of our meals. We ate a few times in the restaurant which offers delicious, affordable meals. You can also hire cutlery and crockery with a $20 deposit.
The animals, birds, snakes, and kangaroos behind our bungalow (#3) were amazing! They even have a talking Cockatoo named Barron! The service is topnotch and although there isn't daily service, you can request it for a nominal fee. I paid $3/towel for new towels and was given a free clean shower mat. We left our rubbish in a bag by our door and it was removed daily. All the staff were kind and helpful, offering cold water while I was checking my emails. Jodie was really great at helping us book tours. The team works really hard to make sure you enjoy your holiday.
We had good weather and had a great time relaxing in the amazing Daintree. We got a special; book 3 nights, get the 4th night free, so it worked out at $112 a night. The area is quite expensive and this is the best deal you will find for accommodation with aircon and TV included. I missed having a pool there, but we spent Sunday out at the reef and there are swimming holes you can visit. We loved our trip out with Ocean Safari; 3 hours on the reef for only $99/pp; the best reef value around! also enjoyed the Cape Trib Wilderness Croc Tour and the Discovery Center rainforest self-tour. Everyone up there is so helpful. Be sure to bring plenty of cash as some vendors don't take Eftpos. The ATM machines weren't working, but the kind proprietor at the Cow Bay Motel cashed us out from his till with our cards. Just be aware that unless you are with Telstra you will not have mobile service in some parts and you have to pay for internet and it is slow and unstable. If you are looking for a place a bit off the grid to relax, put your worries away, and have a digital detox, this is the place to come! We highly recommend Lync-Haven as a true retreat and I look forward to returning.
