The Banksia Boutique is a luxurious and stylish retreat in a very quiet part of Cape Town, ideal for people who seek relaxation. We had a very nice room, the service was very good and the greenhouse with the pool was simply stunning.

We enjoyed our stay at Banksia although to be honest we spent very little time in the hotel as we were too busy exploring Cape Town! The hotel is a bit out of the centre and nothing is within walking distance, we were glad we had a rental car for our trip. But with a car (or taxis) it is well located for Kirstenbosch and road trips along the Cape, and is about a 15 min drive to the Waterfront, if you're brave enough to negotiate the highways (not because they're dangerous, just a bit confusing!) That said, I'm sure that taxis could have been arranged for trips to town and the plus side is that the hotel is in a safe, pretty suburb away from all the noise of the beach suburbs, it's a very peaceful setting. Can't fault the service at Banksia, fantastic friendly staff who were always on hand to offer advice. Fab breakfast. Personally I felt the room could have done with a bit of updating (eg fittings in the bathroom) but otherwise a very comfy bed and nice touches like fresh coffee and milk, a safety box and toiletries including bubble bath for the sunken bath in our room (great view from the bath of the mountains!) To note, we arrived on a Friday and left on a Monday - there was only ever 1 other guest which felt strange but we were informed that lots of business people stay in the week and it had been a quiet weekend. Overall if you're seeking a peaceful stay in a quiet region of Cape Town away from the crowds, you'll enjoy Banksia.

I love The Banksia! Beautiful, quiet, comfortable rooms. Attentive, warm, friendly service. It is the careful attention to all the little details that elevates a good experience into something special. The Banksia definitely gets that right.

I enjoyed everything - very nice people, beautiful place, excellent service
But why they spoiled my feelings by charging for a 17 months baby (not allowed- but this doesn't appear clearly on their booking.com page) to whom them didn't give a bed or a mattress and not even a towel and who ate half of my muffin everyday?

A grand old Victorian home sensitively restored and refurbished to function as an intimate hotel and conference venue. Set in a leafy suburb of Cape Town with views over the leeward side of Table Mountain, the Banksia is a retreat from the bustle of the city and a convenient venue for business conferences as it is close to the airport and city and wine land attractions. We were welcomed on our arrival and felt pampered and nurtured during our stay. Rooms are beautifully decorated in soothing shades and we loved the feeling of spaciousness and light that pervades the bedrooms and the communal areas. We’d booked an aromatherapy massage which was disappointing. There are other hotel spas in the area that offer better value for money, attentive, sensitive therapists. We were not asked what oils we would prefer for our treatment what areas of the body needed more gentle pressure. The therapist used standard base oil with a few drops of eucalyptus though she claimed there was also lavender and geranium in the oil she used.
No meals are offered apart from the breakfast which is ample and offers unusual treats like Welsh Rarebit which I have not seen on the menu in years. I would suggest an offering of rye or gluten free breads or cereals and better quality green tea to maintain a high standard of excellence.

My husband and I stayed here from Feb 1 to Feb 9. Our time there from start to finish was simply wonderful. The rooms and facilities are of top quality but I would say that the staff make the hotel what it is. Very friendy, courteous and helpful and adding to the serenity of the property. The Spa at the hotel adds to the overall impression of serenity and calm. We came away relaxed and refreshed but sorry to be leaving. Looking for an hotel in Cape Town? Look no further. A big big thank you to Shelley and all her staff.

Room Tip: Room 5 has a verandah overlooking Table Mountain. Also with windows on two sides of the room it was...
