Osthouse is an agricultural village about 20 miles out of Strausbourg. We were doing a bicycle tour through the Alsace region and we landed up in this tiniest of villages. It is an area where the cash crop is tobacco and there are neat farms all around. This is a town where you blink and you have missed it.
But there is a gem worth it in this place. It is a converted farm and some new renovations make it a lovely stop for awhile.
Our room was very spacious , a couch, 2 sitting chairs, built in shelves with closet and that was before the sleeping area. The bed was large and comfy and linens were clean. The bathroom was to die for. Spa like, all marble with the best amenities. The shower was like mine at home except made from marble. Robes and slippers to boot! A find that is very unusual in such an isolated area. The courtyard was peaceful and very pretty with all of the flowers in full bloom. There was an area of lounging with chaise lounge chairs outside. The couple owners live there and speak English very well. The dining area is exquisite and it took 13 months to renovate it along with the reception area and kitchen. The male owner is the chef at the only restaurant in town. That place was closed the day that we were there however he prepared us and other guests an evening meal and served it in the breakfast area. He is a very good chef and the meal was quite inexpensive.
If you are near Strasbourg, motor out to Osthouse for a memorable stay at Hotel A La Ferme!

Room Tip: This is a little village of farmers so no busy streets or lights or activity to prevent you from getting a good nights sleep. All rooms would be good rooms.

We stayed here for one night on the way back from the South. Please note that the Tripadvisor map is incorrect. This is in Osthouse, close to the German border, south of Strassbourg. The road from the highway was fairly depressing and not the Alsace as I know it. We were getting quite worried. However, the town turned out to be fairly cute, though super small. It looked friendly, dead but friendly. The hotel looks quite nice. Reception is friendly. We had 2 large rooms (grand comfort) with 3 beds each. One was more modern, one more classic (prefer the first). The latter only had a shower, but still very nice bathrooms with all possible amenities (including slippers and robes). Separate toilets as well. Rooms are very dark though, you need lights on throughout the day. There is a little seating area in front of each rooms, though you see everybody else sitting as well, which is not what I necessarily prefer (a little more privacy for me please). However, the set up is nice and it's well taken care of. Beds were quite comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant a few minutes away. Very classic but nice set up and good food. Friendly service. They made something special for the kids without making it a typical kids meal and they loved it. Especially the mouse shaped icecream complete with ears, eyes and tail! Breakfast area is very nice too, modern, updated and charming. Great variety of bread and other fresh goodies. Only thing is that we were seated a bar-type table with 3 young kids which wasn't the most convenient with little ones. Small private and safe parking area. Really no major complaints. It's just that the area is not as interesting as further west. It's very flat, a little bit boring but definitely a good option.

We stayed in the hotel last summer. It was a quiet place: Osthouse near Strasbourg. We loved the beautyful room (three beds) and the nice and clean bathroom. Above all the welcoming was super. Never seen a variety of food on the breakfasttable! In the morning we received a picknick: nice bread with cheese or ham. The bread was fresh made by the cook.
Very nice people !

A charming stop off on our route to Italy. This is a family-run hotel in a really quite part of Alsace - off the wine route in a sleepy village. The rooms are superb quality and the breakfast was magnificent including the usual continental offering but also farm eggs however you want them and home-made sausages to die for! The family's restaurant was also lovely with great food and a good wine list. Great as a base for Alsace or en route to Switzerland / Italy. We look forward to returning en route to Italy next year.
