Had the worst rib-eye I ever had in my live.
First of all was not rear as I've ordered and I've sent it back and when the second one arrived the meat it self was horrible.
My friend ordered the duck salad as a main in 15 min. The waitress arrived and said that they only had duck for starter portion, however when the starter portion arrived the duck was si hard you couldn't cut it with knife!!!When my fiend complaint another waitress came and tried to convince him that the duck was crispy :))))).
Not going back ever again!!

We were due to go elsewhere with friends for Sunday lunch but were unable to book on a Sunday between 12&2.30. However here at The Tree we could. We arrived a few minutes early and they were setting our table. We ordered drinks and then were seated near to a door looking onto the garden. All the staff were friendly and attentive. We all opted for the carvery. The chef serving was a delight with a great sense of humour. Food was Fab. We even had room for pudding, waffles and ice cream!!
This was our first visit. And it definitely won't be our last. I would recommend to family and friends!!

Was very grateful to find this place on a sunny Saturday afternoon when looking for somewhere to feed the family at 5.30pm. Having been disappointed by 2 other local hostelries who clearly were fed up with the extra business a bit of sunshine had induced and basically turned us away, The Tree was like a welcome oasis.
Decent selection of draught lagers and ales, good wine list. Predictable range of good quality pub food at reasonable prices, and separate children's menu. Staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive.
Good sized garden with separate play area for kids with a wooden castle to climb around and slide, in relative safety. Plenty of seating both inside, in the garden and terrace with an awning for predictable English summer weather.

Booked for a table in the restaurant for Sunday at 2.30 knowing it would be heaving due to popularity and the fact it was a red hot day and everyone was out on box hill. Arrived and were seated straight away. Sat by a table looking onto the garden with the doors open for a nice breeze. Waitress really friendly (australian girl) and attentive. All decided on the carvery which was lovely with a choice of a piece of 3 different meats if you so desired. All opted for puddings off the menu and not the cheesecake of the day. We all enjoyed our meals and loved the styling of the pub. Will definitely go back another time , maybe to try their steak evening.

We really fancied a roast on Sunday (1st June) so we hopped on the bike in the sunshine and tore up to box hill after seeing The Tree driving past a couple of weeks ago. So in we went. In a bit of disarray when we got to the end of the bar as no one to greet or seat us. Asked for a table for 2 but told 45 min wait. Then as a bit of an after thought we were told we could sit in the bar or outside. It didn't have to be in the restaurant. So I went and paid and got our numbered spoon to be told we would be called as 10 people in front of us... Carvery was empty which just made our bellies rumble even more... 30 minutes later I went in asking if we had been forgotten and the hostess lady hurried us in (so thinking we were) the carvery though was lovely. Bit tight on the crackling but that is my only gripe. Cheesecake was ok. Bit kind of curdled and some rubbish chocolate custard sauce over blackberry cheesecake. Had to go and ask for that to be served and our plates to be cleared. We didn't get there til 3 pm so thought they would have been a bit more on it.
