I have been staying regularly at the Upper House for around twelve months and always enjoy it. The staff are ALL helpful, the food is great, it is warm and scrupulously clean. Tucked away up a long drive the house is beautifully set with great views. The fire is usually crackling away in the drawing room - a perfect place to sit and read the papers or enjoy afternoon tea. I would recommend the Upper House to anyone.

Room Tip: The Garden Suite is a lovely spacious room overlooking the garden. The Bridal Suite is very nice wit...

We visited the Upper House and stayed for a long weekend, hoping to get away from the hustle and bustle of Liverpool - and that's exactly what we got. Lovely high ceiling in the room, lots of space, great en-suite, food was good and service was absolutely great. Staff are young but very professional. Had a wedding on one night but could not hear anything once in our room. Quiet and peaceful with great access to Alton Towers! Plenty to do if you want to go out for the day a short drive away and the gardens are lovely - can even lie and see the stars at night. Would definitely go again!

I stayed in this hotel on my official visit to Stoke on Trent. This is a small hotel with limited number of rooms but they have nice big open area for walk or relax. All the rooms are connected with high speed internet connectivity. The Breakfast and wi-fi charges are included in the Room charges itself so no extra charge. The location is little far from the town and it look like in forest so no public transportation. Overall this is an excellent option and value for money.

We were using this hotel as a stop off on a Sunday evening on a long journey North. The manager had pre-warned us that there was a wedding on and the restaurant was closed, but he put us in a lovely quiet room away from the jollifications. We were also able to get a snack at the bar. Good internet connection, plenty of parking and a nice breakfast. My only regret was that we were not able to stay longer.

All the staff where friendly and professional, even with the Hotel being so busy. The Wedding /function room was very modern as was the bar area., again the food was excellent. We will return

We booked the Novello room for an 80th Birthday party on a beautiful sunny day at the end of September. From the moment we entered the hotel we were made to feel 'special' even though the hotel was busy in both the restaurant and the other conservatory, all of the staff were very keen to ensure that we had a lovely time without being too overbearing, they got it just right.
All 19 people in our party were very impressed with the whole experience from the quiet way we were all served to the professionalism of all the staff especially phil who was terrific.
The quality of the food was excellent and I can thoroughly recommend the whole dining experience at The Upper House

What a charming little hotel the Upper House is, it's full of character yet modern enough that it doesn't seem stuffy and old fashioned. The staff are all friendly and polite and flexible with guests. My room was spacious and well equipped with lovely views of the Staffordshire country side. Shhhh don't tell any one but Barlston is a little tranquille jewell. The hotel provides for business needs as well as weddings and the traditional stay. Food was great, hotel was great and altogether a very enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend it as a value for money stay in great surroundings.
