“Very enjoyable meal”
Reviewed 22 November 2010

10 of us booked in for a Sunday Lunch. The reason we picked the Compton Swan was because it was fairly central for us all to travel too.
We were given a large table in the main Dining area & the Landlady had arranged balloons on the table. The Sunday Lunch is £14.95 for two courses & you get your own Beef, Pork or Chicken joint between four people. Plenty of veg & you only have to ask & they will bring more out. Dessert was a mix of individial servings & a large fruit torte which we could cut to our own portion size. All in all good food, good service & good price.

“Disappointing - a let down”
Reviewed 11 November 2010

We had had a lovely meal previously and so went with high expectations.
What a let down... OK - it was Halloween and the place was heaving - so they should have closed the restaurant. Service achingly slow - do I want to ask for a glass of water four times. Food slow to arrive. Starters good - butone main course of fish with the oddest addornment of rosemary completely masking the flavour.

Won't be hurrying back

“Wow! Already planning my return.”
Reviewed 26 October 2010

My husband and I ate at the Compton Swan last Saturday, chosen because it was a convenient stopping point on our journey. We'd prebooked a table but because our plans for the day changed we turned up several hours early - no problem, we were accommodated with no fuss. The waiting staff were friendly and helpful, explaining all the menu options thoroughly and there was no rush to order. Our starters were delicious but the main course of roasted stuffed pork was simply divine - we haven't had food that good since cruising with Royal Caribbean. We just had to force down a dessert too! Everything was freshly cooked using quality ingredients, superbly finished and well presented. We've decided that, even though it's a bit far from home for us, we must find an excuse to return as soon as possible just to try some of the other dishes. Lucky they also offer accommodation so I won't need to roll very far afterwards.

“Wow!!! Amazing food!!!”
Reviewed 4 October 2010

Thank you so much Penelope and Jean-Marc for the most wonderful evening, we arrived at 5.30 thinking we would be there for an hour or two, four hours later we were still there as the atmosphere was so welcoming. The food was out of this world, the lamb the most tender I have had in many years and sweet potato just delicous, not to mention the chocolate brownie! Mum thoroughly enjoyed her crab, pork and key lime pie - we will be back! Wow!!

“Fine food and great service”
Reviewed 22 September 2010

We had a lovely mid week evening treat of salade de Perigord (duck confit and lardons), followed by Morrocan chicken and herb encrusted cod, washed down with Malbec and Pinot Grigio wines, all served with a smile. We ate in the garden and they brought a bowl for our dog to drink out of-she also cunningly had some of the chicken, fish and became rather fond of charcoal grilled aubergines. Worth the trip into the countryside-especially on Monday nights when they do a ladies night with 50% off the food bill for the ladies!
