Came to one of the themed mornings during school holidays & did a lovely woodland walk with the kids. Took a packed lunch & ate it by the canal. It really is very pretty in the summer. Guides very knowelagable & entertained even the youngest children with face painting etc after the woodland walk. All in all very pleasant morning learning about our local environment.

Set about one mile off the M4 at junction 26, all that is here is a lake and small gift shop. Fourteen locks itself is set off the main road between two housing estates. There is a small lake where children play at fishing, a small shop on the opposite side of the road selling drinks and ice.cream etc and free parking. There are nice views over some parts of Newport and the M4 but the best way to enjoy the scenery is either by walking up the canal to RIsca, or by cycling along the canal path which is very flat with no lock rises.

This attraction is small, dry locks which they are trying to preserve. The walk doesnt take long, about a mile. Whilst the walk is loverly there is not much to see as they are not working locks. There is a little cafe to stop for a coffee.
