“Lovely location”
Reviewed 12 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We enjoyed our visit. It is ideally located for many of the areas attractions and we managed to find plenty to do even with the typical British summer weather. The cabin is well looked after and clean. The owners are friendly but left us alone to get on with the break. From the pictures on TripAdvisor we hadn't realised there is also camping on the site but this is in separate fields so didn't affect us in any way. Overall, a great place to stay.

“Nice getaway in a wooden house”

Booking was easy. When we arrived around 1700 hrs cookies and milk were kept ready for us. House was clean. Owner greeted us. Living room had a tv, fireplace (electric one - not a real one), lot of pamphlets (which you can't put to use), there is no internet. Rooms had clean blankets and lot of board games for kids. Spacious wardrobes. It's an example of how a small space can be made effective use of.

Couple of things you might watch out for:
1. There was not much information available on the internet regarding the local walking paths or anything which makes it "peak district" .. unfortunately there isn't much information available for hiking trip if you quickly want to visit the property in the last minute, which means you need to do lot of research and a car to go around

2. Kitchen had blunt knives and even cutting a tomato was a herculean effort.

Overall
if you have a car and a proper researched plan this is the property for you.

Thank you for taking the time to review Standlow Lodge. Thank you for pointing out that the kitchen knives are blunt I will replace them as soon as I get to the shops.
Regarding walking routes
The tourist information office in the centre of Bakewell have a good choice of walking books and leaflets which cover Lathkill Dale.
The OS outdoor leisure no 24 The Peak District White Peak Area is the map to have.

“Rural Stay”
Reviewed 20 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Comfortable stay in wooden lodge in a very rural environment. Lovely south facing views over the fields, only 10 minutes from Bakewell in Derbyshire. In need of a little updating, but plenty of heating and hot water available. Do take a torch if arriving at night, we forgot to put on the outside light having gone out for the day and it's pretty dark in the countryside!.

“Excellent accommodation”

We arrived late on Friday evening, tea, coffee, milk and delicious cookies waiting for us. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, bathroom, bedrooms and kitchen facilities are excellent. Although we didn't get to use the barbecue or veranda due to the weather, the cosy sofa and fireplace were welcome on our return at night. Only a few minutes to Bakewell and lots of places to visit nearby. Plenty of space for children to run around and a field with a football net. I would recommend the lodge to anyone. My only suggestion would be a map for directions when turning off the main road, you need to drive straight down the lane and take a turn on the left.

Thank you for your great review, I,m very happy you enjoyed your stay at Standlow Lodge.and thank you for your feedback about a map. The football nets that you mentioned are not part of Standlow Lodge they belong to the children who live in the farmhouse.
