We have been eating at this hotel during walks in the Peaks for over 25 years and taken rooms on three occasions. It is, quite simply, a gem! Location is superb - views to die for and fantastic walks in every direction. In the last few years it has been taken over by younger members of the family and they are doing a great job. Customer service is fantastic, accommodation clean and fit for purpose (yes the rooms are small but very well planned and the views from rooms 1/2 are unbelievable), food is good and great value, the bar always has a first class range of beers and the ambience of the place is very special - I spend the first few days on return pining to be back. Ignore any negative comments and arrive with open mind and be prepared to be captivated by a very special place. And as for the person who posted negative comments about being asked to remove boots, this has always been part of the walker's etiquette and I usually take mine off before I walk around my home! Thanks to all at Lathkill for making it our special place!

A friendly village hostelry with every attention to their guests whilst enjoying the custom of the locals. What every village inn should be like. The food was excellent whilst staying there it was a local night of darts. So nice to see local people enjoying their evening and having the banter with each other. A total uplifting experience. So many hostelries put on a facade for guests it was nice to be in a normal place with very good food and treated like you were special.

Room Tip: just book in

The location of this Hotel is stunning and very uplifting as you feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere but in fact only a few miles away from Bakewell. Lovely walks from the Hotel and it is stuated in a really pretty village.
Whilst the Hotel is compact, the bar has a good atmosphere, with real fire going and the rooms have been decorated to a high standard, if a little small. It was useful to have hairdryer supplied.
My only criticism would be that there is no communal sitting room with comfortable chairs to lounge in at the end of a long days walk. Definitely would recommend it and will go back again. Food good and staff very attentive. Enjoyed the New Year's Eve disco and buffet.

We were really pleased with our choice of this hotel. It has an amazing location with great views. We were made very welcome and joined in their Pub Quiz which was good fun. The food was good. The room was nice - it was quite small but suited us for our short break and was warm and contained everything necessary to make the stay perfect! We would certainly recommend it and stay there again.

Room Tip: You have a choice of Fell view, we didn't but that was fine as the breakfast room looked out ov...

This small hotel was very convenient after a visit to Chatsworth. The staff made us very welcome and we were more than comfortable. The food was very good and the atmosphere enhanced by the log fires. The view from my bedroom was a great bonus.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front of the hotel have the best views.

Pubic hair in our bed sheet, white towels with yellow spots (nasty) and the staff banging next door while you want to sleep wasn't really pleasant.
Breakfast was good.

Great location though, beautiful views.
