“Amazing views, great food but one disappointing member of staff!!”
Reviewed 27 March 2014 via mobile

After a walk round Lathkil which was beautiful we decided to go to the Lathkil for lunch. The pub has brilliant views over Lathkil and a lovely atmosphere! The range of beers is decent and food menu was ok, although hardly any veggie options! The waiter we had was very friendly but the barman on the other hand lacked any enthusiasm or people skills. My dad is vegetarian and also has a dairy allergy (vegan) which is very common in this day and age. The barman almost seemed annoyed that he had to think about the menu and what my dad could have, he was very unprofessional. Even when ordering drinks we felt like an inconvenience. He made no attempt to make conversation. The kitchen staff were obviously more helpful as they put together a lovely vegetable curry which was suitable for my dad. The food was although a little small in portion, very delicious. If it wasn't for the food and the brilliant views I would definitely not return to the pub due to the unfriendly barman! If you can ignore him like we did though you will have a lovely time here!

“A wonderful view”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

We always pick a sunny day to lunch here. Sitting out on the terrace enjoying the fabulous views across Lathkill Dale. Best value for money are the beef cobs with a salad and plenty of horseradish sauce. Total bliss.

“Just does not change......”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

Reassuringly unchanging, just like the amazing view. Very child and dog friendly alongside well kept ales and hearty homemade food. For such a tourist trap,it retains a warmly local atmosphere.

“Wonderful meal and service”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

Stunning views add to the appeal of The Lathkil. We have known it for some time and it seems to get better year by year.
Wonderful range of beers, well described and at least 4 guests regularly changed.
Snack lunched are excellent value and the Restaurant meals are top quality too. Not silly expensive, and locally sourced where possible.
Really warm and cosy in winter too and good rooms with lovely breakfast to enjoy looking across some of Britain's best scenery.
