We stayed in the Garden Room for 3 nights whilst visiting relatives. It was a smallish room with separate toilet and shower but large enough for us, and had everything you might need. Jan, the owner, was lovely and incredibly thoughtful. We were tired when we arrived and she offered us crockery and cutlery so that we could get cosy and have a takeaway. She then came to take away the rubbish and cutlery so that our room didn't smell of Indian food! We had opened a bottle of wine and were happy to use the glasses on the bedside table but Jan noticed the wine and provided us with wineglasses the following day. Free Wi Fi was useful, but a little temperamental whilst we were there. And so to breakfast!!! Wow!!! Lovely fresh fruit salad followed by one of the best full English brekkies I've every had the pleasure to get outside of, and all delivered to your room with a smile. I hardly every eat sausages but had two each morning whilst I was there and they were perfectly delicious, as was the bacon with all the trimmings. My husband and I didn't need any lunch for three days. We did say that we probably ought to have gone for the lighter option on the third day but we just couldn't resist the works I'm afraid!

The bed was comfy and linen crisp and clean.

All in all, it is clear that Jan tries very hard to make the Chequers a 'home from home' and it certainly works. Thanks - we'll be back!! Oh, just remembered, we forgot to fill in the visitors book - sorry Jan, we'll do it next time!

Room Tip: If you like lots of space then don't choose the Garden room (although we were perfectly happy in...

We stayed in the Coach House for two nights, and it was perfect. The place was even better in the flesh and came with some extras we weren't expecting, like free WiFi and big fluffy bathrobes. All mod cons were provided for and our hostess Jan was lovely. Breakfast in the morning was a feast and so nice to be able to take it in your own room too. We couldn't fault this place and would thoroughly recommend to anyone.

We received a warm welcome and enjoyed our one night stay in The Hayloft. The owners are very helpful and kind. The Hayloft is spacious and light with a huge en-suite bathroom with a bath and hand shower. We were served a delicious, generous breakfast in our room. We hope to be able to stay again soon.

My husband & I have stayed here twice now. We live approx an hour away. The accommodation is second to none. There are three outstanding rooms to choose from. We've stayed in The Hayloft and The Garden Room. The Hayloft is magnificent. It's luxurious and comfortable. The en-suite bathroom is wonderful with a deep free standing bath which you can just sink into with a glass of wine in one hand and a book in the other. Greatfor a 2 or more night stay. The Garden Room is quite a bit smaller, but every bit as wonderful. For a one night stay it is absolutely perfect. The bed is very comfy and the power shower is to die for. Now the breakfast...... I don't think I've ever been served a breakfast quite like it. A beautiful fresh fruit salad to start, with tea or coffee, followed by a magnificent tasty cooked breakfast (choice of full English or Continental) with toast. Beautiful. The Owners are really lovely. Friendly and very helpful. I would recommend The Chequers to anybody.

Personal service, welcoming atmosphere, quality rooms and great food. This is not just any old B & B! The owners are friendly and professional, nothing is too much trouble. They offer sound advice on the area - their choice of pubs and restaurants is spot on! The quality of the furnishings was superb. We originally booked the Garden Room, but upgraded to the Hayloft as it was still available and had more room. Saying that, the Garden room was small but perfectly formed. Breakfast delivered to the room in style - and it was scrummy! There is plenty to do in the area, with lots of fantastic restaurants too. This was a great last minute escape - truly pampered!

Our family of two adults and two young children stayed on the ground floor of the Coach house - a standalone unit next to the main house - for one night. We had a king size bed, the children shared a double sofa bed. Both were very comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean.

The room itself is huge and stylishly decorated, lots of recessed lighting, lamps, side tables, a modish leather coffee table laden with magazines and a dining table in one corner. Basically it was of a standard with many four star hotels

The beds had mountains of pillows, snow white fluffy duvets and thick comfortable throws. There was a widescreen TV with DVD player. Everything felt very new and well cared for

The large bathroom has a combi bath shower with a very powerful shower and lots of hot water.

For breakfast we had fruit, muesli and toast with croissants and pan au chocolat for the kids. Nice strong coffee.

WIckham Market itself is very pretty and its near enough Woodbridge to drive in for dinner at one of the very decent restaurants there. Katy at Chequers can recommend some places - and we were impressed by the gastro pub in nearby Framlingham she sent us to.
