We stayed for one night at Les Glycines on our return to Calais. Despite arriving much later than planned, Mme Rambour (Pierrette) was unruffled and greeted us warmly. She speaks very good English.
She showed us to our room (Reves d'ailleurs) which was accessed by a staircase to the side of the house. It is a charming room and exactly as depicted on their website. We had booked an evening meal and I highly recommend this. It is delicious and reasonably priced at 20euros per person for an aperitif, starter, main course, cheese, dessert and a coffee/other drink.
Pierrette and her husband, Rene, are charming hosts and enjoy receiving guests from all over the world. Neither my husband nor Rene speak each other's language but with the help of my French and Pierrette's English, we managed to involve the four of us in conversation that lasted throughout the entire meal.
Breakfast consisted of fresh bread, a large selection of home-made jams, yogurts, fresh orange juice and either coffee or tea.
We bought a pot of Rene's honey before leaving, thoroughly refreshed after a truly wonderful stay.
An ideal location for either a one night stop to/from Calais or longer if you wish to explore the local area further.
