Spa was a welcome relief after a days cycling! Comfortable accommodation. Welcoming staff. Best of all was the help yourself breakfast figs and other lovely fruits, lots of choice. However wine cost a fortune £22 a bottle!! Restaurant food was nothing special. Service was excellent in a hotel way not friendly but very efficient. It was a lovely quiet place to stay and facilities were very good.

The room we were given was on the ground floor of the stables wing. It was freezing! There were a couple of electric heaters but they only work when you are in the room as the electricity goes off without the card in the slot.

After a long day driving we wanted to sleep well after dinner but had to wait an hour in the main building bar for the room to warm up (we put a credit card in the slot and managed to keep the heating on while we waited in the main building)

The main hotel block was warm but the stables appeared to have been converted into rooms later with less thought to heating.

We woke in the morning to also find a spider in our bed! It is not because the hotel was dirty but because of the ground floor location - easy for bugs to get in through the window.

Perhaps the main building was better. Had it been warm, we would have found it ok. In this situation, with a dry atmosphere from purely electric heat, we were pleased to head off in the morning.

Elegant hotel with first class amenities. Located just outside Shrewsbury within beautiful surrounding gardens. We received a friendly welcome and were upgraded to a luxury romantic room complete with four poster bed. We had afternoon tea served by another friendly staff member in the bar area.
We enjoyed a meal in the evening in the delightful hotel restaurant served by very attentive staff. The only down side was that we could only stay for one night!

Room Tip: Pay a little extra and treat yourself to a suite.

My wife and me stayed here recently for 3 nights and found the whole experience pretty much what it said on the jar. We each had a spa day with excellent massages and were given a free room upgrade. The food was really good, served hot on hot plates. We have had much worse for much more money at a couple of so called country house hotels. All in all it was a very good 3 days. For people interested in stately homes a trip to Powis Castle - about 40 min drive away is well worth a visit

Stayed here for a weekend away. Great hotel, great staff, great food. Could't fault anything. Spent an afternoon in the spar, very good facilities. The food in the restaurant was especially good and great service.

Room Tip: try to get a room facing the pond
