“Afternoon Tea”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

Had a lovely Sunday afternoon tea (which was a living social deal). On arrival we were given a menu for our selection of sandwiches, which I think covered all tastes. The scones were lovely and there were two slices of cake each. Coffee was an endless supply and the waitress who served us was very polite and friendly. Great afternoon all round.

We stayed at Albrighton Hall for an overnight to celebrate my sister's 60TH birthday. When we arrived at 3.30PM & got to our room, when we were eventually given a key card that worked & got into our room in the stable block, the room was very spacious but absolutely freezing, with it being October it would have been nice to have had the heating on before we arrived. As it was it took us almost two most hours to get the room warm despite calling reception to ask for a heater, which they sent but it was woefully inadequate to heat the room.
The bathroom as even colder with only a heated towel rail to warm it...!!!!
On the positive side the room was clean and tide & the bed comfortable.
The rest of the hotel was very nice, the staff very happy to oblige, the service was very good, we ate in the restaurant which was also very good. he breakfast was excellent with everything you could need to start the day.
The bar prices, as with all these types of hotels, were expensive so it was expected. All in all the stay was pleasant but the cold room did spoil it a bit. I wouldn't rush to go back but it was OK.

This could, and should have been an excellent weekend for my family and I. We were a small party of 6, coming together from opposite ends of the country to stay in a beautiful hotel set in beautiful grounds to celebrate a 60th birthday. Some elements of the stay were as we would expect from a hotel at this price; evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Angelo, the bar tender on the Sunday was a delight. The hotel and grounds were charming and well cared for.

Sadly for the main part of the Saturday we felt that the hotel was completely overtaken by wedding guests with nowhere reserved for other hotel guests to enjoy their stay. We felt like second class guests with nowhere for us to sit and relax in the main part of the hotel. Added to this our room was in the stable block and was freezing; the room had not been pre-heated and the one small wall mounted heater in the bedroom only came on when you were in the room and the card key was in the electric slot. There was nowhere to sit, relax, read papers and enjoy cream tea on the Saturday as we had planned - the bar and lounge areas were overtaken and in some parts reserved by wedding guests and the room was too cold to sit in.

The final nail in the coffin was when we arrived at the spa reception for the two massages we had booked on the Sunday morning to find that an error had been made and only one massage booked. I'm very disappointed and our family celebration has been totally ruined by a succession of errors on the part of the hotel and spa. Yes, we were given a small discount of £20 on our hotel bill and the one massage that we did receive was discounted by £17.50, but all in all the hotel received not much short of £1000 from our small party of 6 and we all left feeling that our 60th birthday celebration had been spoiled.

Myself and my husband stayed here on the 5th October to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, as we had our wedding reception at this Hotel. We were pleasantly greeting by Marta and felt looked after by her as the Hotel was busy due to a wedding, she opened the drawing room to accomodate our lunch and ensured we were happy. Our room was lovely with a four poster bed which was very comfortable and nice views of the ornamental lake. Only complaint was that the shower pressure did not work very well and made it difficult to wash my hair. (room 23).The spa was nice and we enjoyed the thermal suite very much. Very relaxing stay and i look forward to returning in the future.

Room Tip: stay in the old part of the building
