We were booked into another hotel locally but changed to the Mercure Albrighton when we were tipped off it there was a special deal on offer. We were pleasantly surprised by the high standard of the room and breakfast at the same time making a financial saving. The bar and facilities were of the highest standard and the welcome was the best I have ever experienced. All the staff, without exception were courteous, friendly and most helpful,
I am sure I would stay in this hotel again if the need arose and would happily recommend others to do so.

Booked an overnight stay with a friend for August Bank Holiday weekend. Our room was very nice, well equipped, comfortable beds and huge bathroom. We were on the ground floor of the school masters house building. The only downside was creaking floorboards from the room above which did wake us during the night - no-one's fault but do need attention. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. We had intended to use the pool and spa facilities but did not have time in the end although the pool looked nice.
The food in the hotel was very expensive with the 'bar food' being the same and same price as the restaurant. We ate at a pub about 3 miles away which was much cheaper. I am sure if the food and drinks were cheaper they would sell more. We overheard one couple had purchased two coffees and a portion of chips which cost £13.00!! Although the wifi was free it was not great.

Dear AllisonNorthampton,
Thank you for your response. I will pass your feedback about the floorboards to our maintenance team. We offer different rate packages including dinner and the price value is very good. Obviously we can’t compete with local pubs. Please visit us again and try our leisure and spa facilities.

Kind regards

This was a last minute booking so didn't eat dinner or breakfast but the room was very comfortable and had everything we needed so would happily stay again. Shame it didn't have a patio as the grounds are lovely and would have been nice to sit outside as we had a ground floor room. There was a wedding going on so was a little noisy but it didn't carry on too late so still managed to get a good night's sleep. Had internet connection but it was so slow had to resort to watching the TV. Had a swim in the pool which was nice and sat outside afterwards, but not what you'd call relaxing due to the volume of children.

Dear Jo C,
Thank you so much for your response. The upgrade for our Internet should be done in September it is related to some outside cables. I am glad you had a good night sleep we appreciate your understanding that we are a wedding venue. Please visit us again.

Overall a good visit with a few grumbles !
I'd purchased an overnight Spa break for myself and Mum as a belated birthday treat for us both.
Overall the Hotel was welcoming and all the staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately after twice going through for booking our spa treatments before arriving when we got to the Spa reception they had not booked our request and they could not accommodate us that day, luckily we were staying overnight, but again they could not accommodate us together which in all was disappointing. The steam rooms are tired and the ice room was out of order so a trickle of a cold shower after a sauna. I don't find screaming children relaxing. The compensation was a gift pack of three nail varnishes of pale pink and paler pink, a good gesture but ! Over all I liked the hotel it had a professional and comfortable feel and dinner we very enjoyable. The bin lorries at around 6 & 7am were not a welcome wake up alarm and the revving of the engine and speeding off may have been fun for some one but I am afraid it was not a highlight of my stay. There was big potential for me to recommend but after a few annoying errors and a smarmy apology it certainly isn't top of my spa list !!

Room Tip: Take a look at your room and try the shower ! It is great access for Shrewsbury.

Typical Mercure property - lovely building that could do with a bit of tlc (area around the spa not particularly inspiring or welcoming.

we were a little disappointed that we couldnt change our package from b&b to bbem on arrival (hotel policy apparently according to the receptionist) - we went shrewsbury instead and had a fantastic meal at the cornhouse for about half of what the a la carte would have cost.

overall the accommodation was fine, the breakfast was fine and we would probably use the place again

Dear Don R,
Thank your for taking time to post your review. I need to investigate why we couldn’t change your package and double check our procedure. At the moment we provide a dinner promotion for a very good price value, it is a disappointment we lost your business to the Cornhouse.
Please visit us again.
