We caught sight of this place during an evening walk along the Point Vernon coastline. Tucked away in Gatakers Bay, it looked exotic and inviting. We returned for lunch the next day. It didn't disappoint as a quiet location on a hot day. The overall atmosphere is country Queensland mixed with Bali. The deck overlooking the Bay was comfortably occupied by a mix of Hervey Bay locals and tourists, enjoying the ambience and shade. The service was friendly but casual: not a place if you are in a hurry. The menu is modern Asian with a Thai leaning, and once it arrived, the food was worth waiting for. We enjoyed our cool drinks and were happy to while away the afternoon. Pleasant and low key, its an ideal choice if you would like to experience the quiet end of Hervey Bay.

We heard about Gatakers Landing Restaurant through a friend and thought we would try it quite a few months ago. We had a lovely leasurely lunch. The sky was blue the ocean lovely to just sit and gaze at, and the food scrumptious. This restaurant is tucked off the beaten track down next to a boat ramp. A little oasis with only the restaurant patrons and the occasional boat launching or retrieval.

As we enjoyed this restaurant we decided to try this again on our next visit to Hervey Bay. We decided to have dinner. The food was excellent and even though we didn't have the view as we did during the day, the atmosphere was lovely. Quiet and relaxing. The meal we had was delicious, as was the previous meal. The choice on the menu was extensive and serving sizes were more than adequate. Do your self a favour and try this restaurant. My favourite was during the day because of the view.

This restaurant is located in the most idyllic part of Hervey Bay, Queensland. A old residence converted into a restaurant with outside dining, veranda or inside dining. On first appearance you think how awesome. Then when you look closely you see a building in need of some tender loving care. Rotting wood floor and handrails, cobwebs, flaking paint etc. Service whilst very pleasant and personalized, is quite slow. Food is a la carte, but very small portions and quite pricey for the area. It's ideal for weddings and family get together's, however I would suggest that it is more suited to morning or afternoon tea. It is on the sea front, so it can get a bit windy and cool, but the atmosphere is certainly there. For photos see Google Images. Written by a local.
