“All ok”
Reviewed 6 June 2017 for a stay in May 2017

The cottage is situated behind Wrights and there is ample parking. The cottage itself is overall ok. There are towels provided but only one per person per week. Beds are ok the room with the shower although has a wardrobe there is no hanging pole, so you cant use coat hangers! There are shelves....the cleanliness is ok but my wife did clean a bit. Its a comfy house for 4 maximum. All in all it was ok.

“Very disappointed”

We booked to stay in this cottage with our two dogs. Our first trip to Wales. Initial reviews looked promising, on reflection I later noted that most of the good reviews were pretty old. On arrival the kitchen was dirty, bacon fat in the sink, crumbs everywhere. Split seat in kitchen, broken cooker, dirty fridge. Numerous broken items throughout the cottage. One bathroom had no opening window or privacy blind which looks out onto a car park which was regularly in use by the shop in the converted pub next door. The other bathroom had a broken sink which leaked water everywhere when used. Clearly an on going issue as the ceiling underneath was covered in water stains and floor tiles were all lifted. The cleaner didn't know what polish was for, dust everywhere! Supposedly dog friendly but the garden is not secure. Booked through Sykes, who's customer service was appalling. They clearly have to deal with a lot of complaints as they were very abrupt. They have a policy whereby you have to ring the owner whilst still at the property to get the issues resolved. I personally didn't want to waste my entire holiday sorting out issues that I shouldn't have been made to deal with in the first place. We did call the owner who offered to pop round at some point (he did not live locally) with some silicone sealant to sort the sink, trust me it would have taken a lot more than that to solve all the issues in that cottage! Beautiful part of the country but unfortunately our holiday was ruined by the disappointment and aggravation the cottage condition caused.

“Disappointed ”

Such a shame as it wouldn't take much to make this cottage superb. We stayed with our friends and it appealed to us because of the layout of 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
The main faults were : no opening window/door in the lounge, which would have been a nightmare in the summer. Large floor to ceiling window in the main bathroom also broken and wouldn't open, also had no blind so no privacy at night and the extractor fan was broken. No proper light in the other bathroom just a lighted mirror. Lots of the bulbs were blown and none of the fancy lighting in the kitchen was working. No bath mats. The garden was not as described and the cottage was not as clean as it should be. All of these things could be easily sorted but the main concern is that the windows and doors that are faulty present a real danger in case of fire. The cottage was great for our Labrador and the village was lovely with a nice field by the village hall where we could let the dog run off lead. We had a good meal at the Emlyn Arms one evening too. Steak and sweet for £10. I was surprised to note that the problem with the windows and doors was also noted by a reviewer in 2014 and that nothing has been done about it. I would be reluctant to book with Sykes again because of this.

“Great little cottage”
Reviewed 12 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

A book about the history of Led Zepplin in the bathroom, a good start. Clean comfortable and in a great location with views from the garden. Bedrooms really comfortable both with en-suite, great shower in one bedroom large bath in the other (no Jacuzzi). Really comfy sitting room with Sky TV on large screen. Well equipped modern kitchen. Next door to the cottage is a very good restaurant, deli that you have to try.
All in all really enjoyable will be back.
Steve

“A little welsh gem”
Reviewed 24 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

This cottage is ideal for visiting the local area and is in a lovely peaceful village. Very well equipt and clean throughout with all utensils, towels etc provided.

Two double bedded rooms, en suite (1 with shower, 1 bath) with lots of space and storage. Definitely recommend considering the value for money.

“Not as advertised”

We booked this cottage for September 2014 at the beginning of the year from Sykes Cottages as we had used them before.
The location was perfect for us
On first impressions it looked fantastic but after a few hours we found that there was no windows downstairs at all. The weather was hot as we were having an "Indian Summer". There are 2 heavy glass doors which are advertised as picture windows in the kitchen and lounge. They look lovely but were useless as they would not open, the frames needed repair because of the weight of the doors . Hence, I was not able to cook.
Upstairs, there was no jacuzzi bath as advertised----one of the reasons we booked this cottage.
My main worry was that there was no fire escape except for the downstairs front door. The large window in the upstairs bathroom was locked due to faulty handle. We were never contacted by the owners. We left before the week was over.
We've 'put it behind us now' and down to experience. I have had no feedback from Sykes and don't expect any either. We won't be booking with them again.
