Despite the house being new to the rental market booking was easy and we found La Paille without a problem. The house is set well back from the (very quiet) lane behind a large hedge so is very private. There's shaded parking for a couple of cars beside the house.
The exterior photos simply don't do the house justice. It is set in a grassy orchard and during our stay there was a family of friendly donkeys in the field next door. The views to the Pyrenees in the West are very open across a lovely river valley to open countryside.
The house is well equipped, especially the kitchen The sofas and beds are particularly comfortable. The downstairs room is very large and it would be easy to have another bed or two here. Outside there is a nice gravelled area with French Windows opening from the sitting room. There are chairs, sunbeds and a table with a shady umbrella.
We loved the area. The countryside reminds me of my home in the Cotswolds but with the added benefits of inexpensive wine and great food. There are good restaurants at nearby Plaisance and Marciac and we went to the swimming lake and bar at Lupiac several times. So if you'd like to stay in a lovely old house situated in an unspoiled area that isn't heaving with tourists I'd strongly recommend La Paille.
