“fab stay.... again!”
Reviewed 23 August 2012

Thanks Andy & Egija, lovely to be back, and a lovely welcome! Great room with lots of character, especially the amazing fireplace, and my cousin loved her room too, especially her own little balcony! Love the pool, well maintained, clean, and secluded, yet a real sun trap, too. How you manage to create such an amazing little gem, and produce such fabulous meals ,yet maintain a small family feel, I don't know ! Yes wasps are a prob on the terrace, but you don't invite them, & do your best to control them. They are a price worth paying to eat al fresco in such a pretty space ! This was our second visit while attending a family wedding, giving us somewhere to relax between a hectic family time. We will definitely be back. A hairdryer, mirror and chair near a plug for us wrinklies who need to sit down while preening ourselves would make it perfect. (which you found for me on request anyway) Both of you provided an efficient yet friendly sevice. My husband was delighted to find tea making facilities, too. Congratulations on your marriage, and look forward to out next visit. Liz B.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely! Room 4 at back and HUGE .Room 3 has a bath and own balcony, overlooking the te...

We were looking for a relaxing location in France for our Honeymoon and stumbled across the website for La Vieille Maison which seemed to offer just what we wanted.

And we were not disappointed!

Andy and Egija could not have done more for us.....from the bottle of bubbly waiting for us on our arrival to all the local knowledge they shared, they really helped to make our stay a really special and memorable ten days.

The hotel location is idyllic and views from the poolside and terrace are stunning. Our room was very clean, simple and delightful and the restaurant food is just excellent.

If you are looking for a charming, friendly, quiet stay in the Dordogne region this is the place for you.

and worth a stop over. And this hotel has to be the best in town. Lovely ambience, extremely friendly and helpful staff - who can speak English! - not always the case in other parts of the region.

We were looking for a restful short break in the Dordogne (whilst driving from UK to Portugal) and this little gem was everything we could have wished for. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The whole property oozes character. Our hosts, Andy and Egija were very friendly and attentive and made us feel extremely welcome. The Hotel is in the heart of a pretty village that is very quiet but perfectly placed for exploring the beautiful Dordogne. There are so many gorgious towns and villages to explore within a short drive. We particularly liked Brantome (great Friday market) and Aubeterre - see pictures. If you want a day in, there is a lovely patio area for simply relaxing & enjoying a drink by the swimming pool - although when we were there in October, whilst sunny, it was too cold for swimming! Fantastic evening meals at a very reasonable price are available in the restaurant and the continental breakfast was one of the best we had on our whole 10 day excursion through France and Spain. Our only negative comment is that there is no TV lounge - however, this didn't worry us as we were pleased to just "get away from it all". We will definitely return to this Little Gem.

Room Tip: From what we saw all rooms are well furnished and all will be quiet as it is a really sleepy village...

Stayed for 3 nights recently and we really had a relaxing time. We stayed in room 3 which had a bath and a small balcony. The pool was great and we enjoyed 2 evening meals which were superb.
The hosts were very helpful and friendly and we would return to this lovely old hotel.

A lovely wee hotel in a beautiful part of France. A real family atmosphere, because it's run by a real family! The food is amazing, the service friendly and prompt, but the whole place feels very laid back and relaxed. I can't remember the last time I was as chilled-out as when I was lounging next to the pool listening to birds singing and crickets chirping. Bliss!

The guys running the hotel could not do enough for us. They gave us good advice about what to see & what to avoid - they even gave us a hand-drawn map to find a beautiful little town nearby. Wonderful! We'd love to go back, and hopefully we will!

I stayed with a friend as we were attending a wedding in a nearby venue. The accomodation is beautiful and very traditional. The setting is stunning and the grounds and pool are well maintained. The menu in the restaurant looked amazing but we didnt get chance to eat there.

Andy and his partner ( wife now congratulations and good luck for September) were great hosts and very friendly. We had a lovely welcome and nothing was too much trouble during our stay. We were made beautiful sandwiches for lunch at short notice and Andy even dropped us to our car that we had left at the wedding venue the night prior. Breakfast was lovely it was in the gardens overlooking the pool and the offering was delicious. The service is very personal and attentive... it was just what we needed away from the hustle and bustle of our lives in the UK.

You must stay here.
